I didn't watch all of either. I wanted to slam the piano key lid down on that douchbags fingers.
I think you're both being too harsh, although you're not alone: here's the "Hitler rant" - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eQa4DL17Aug

I wanted to perform the Cage - but the publisher charges a fortune for the score, so I couldn't afford to buy it.

Luckily, for $29.95, I was able to get hold of Ligeti's 0m,0s. It's a less substantial work, of course, but getting my mind around the exact length of each rest was a demanding task.

I won't give you a link to that Ligeti, but here's one to an exceptionally fine interpretation of his Lux Aeterna from 1966: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-iVYu5lyX5M
I recall finding Stravinsky's quote about Cage quite amusing.

Magic Sam "All Your Love" from West Side Soul (1967). Sam died tragically of a heart attack in 1969 at age 32 so, despite his brilliance, he didn't make too many recordings. I had never heard this record (although I have his 1957 Cobra recordings of that and other songs) - but happily, Delmark finally released it on CD in 2011. It's a revelation and I understand why many people rank the album as one of the top 10 blues records of all time. What a voice!

Unfortunately, no-one seems to have put the West Side Soul version of "All Your Love" on youtube (if you don't own it, you should buy it on e-bay, like I did) - but here's his equally compelling version of Robert Johnson's "Sweet Home Chicago" (Sam's was, of course, the model for the Blues Brothers Band's film version) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aT7G30NgXNI

Here's another great example of Sam's magic vocals: "That's All I Need", the opening track from West Side Soul . This is a soul number, rather than a blues, strictly speaking, but he shows his gospel roots (and also, I think, his debt to Sam Cooke): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iL3vv1qVZrw

There is, happily, some compelling footage of Sam playing "All Your Love" in this clip (of him playing on Earl Hooker's guitar), coupled with "Lookin' Good": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7S5DGqCfk8o

Also, for anyone who might be interested, I noticed when I was trying to find some Magic Sam links that there is colour video footage of Johnny Shines performing "Sweet Home Chicago". A casual listen will confirm that this is very close to Robert Johnson's original formulation (as you'd expect, since Shines toured with Johnson in 1937, playing second guitar for the Great Man): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=apWm5lRkejM

I'm not sure why but this song has a disproportionate effect on me. I listen to it, I want to cry and run through walls at the same time

Ah, Greg Allman. Wonderful.

A few weeks ago he was played quite a bit on PBS (or was it RRR). Loved it.
