Nice

I've kust been giving IT support over facebook to a young bloke I know who's over in Dublin and just bought a second hand laptop that doesn't have the WIFI drivers. He sent a txt to the bloke he bought it off who sent one back telling him where to download the drivers.

I suggested he buy a prepaid USB dongle, he responded with "why would I spend money on a dongle when every place has free WIFI".

I responded with " how you gonna download the drivers you need to connect to WIFI if you can't connect to WIFI?"

Never mind, we worked out how he could do it.

I thought young people were supposed to be good with IT? :?

A lot may be, but I know I'm still borderline illiterate (well, perhaps slightly less so than that guy. Or not).

You're letting your generation down David.

I had to laugh today. I was only working this morning, had to leave at lunch for an offsite meetings and then I'm on leave for a week and a half (yay :D ) so as I'm ready to leave, I go to quickly do the rounds and say Seeya to my direct reports.

As I said to a bloke at the meeting i eventually got to, I felt like dad trying to leave the preschooler at kinder. "Oh, are you leaving now? 1 quick question?" FMD happened 3 times in a row and then heading to grab my bag got grabbed by one of the staff having troubles with the footy tipping site. Took 45 seconds to figure out she'd forgot her password, then I had to bolt.

Got to the meeting late, but still laughing.

(bit unfair to compare my direct reports with preschoolers, they're all extremely capable and competent people, but it was just funny the last minute stuff)

I never would have picked the WA Liberal Party to back this sort of event... :?
