Great game from Elliott. Another solid game from Maxy. Frost did well, but he's just not big enough to hold Hawkins himself.
Cloke had a stinker, but I thought he was a bit stiff not to get a free on a couple of occasions. Lonergan was all over him.
Fire the kicking coach and hire someone that can teach our boys to kick a set shot. Wanted to throw my phone through the tv after the first quarter.

Cloke's quiet night cost us in the end.
5 goals for Elliot was nearly a match winning effort.
But over the whole game we could only draw level each time... couldn't go that extra step and take the lead.
Some really frustrating play the way we handball it through the traffic all the time. Turnovers galore.
And well done Frost for his first and second efforts.

Games like this, show why there was debate on how much Cloke was worth re-signing for.
The best defenders know how to stop him. He has never been able to take his game to a higher level because of that. Besides his kicking for goal.
Swanny shouldn't be playing injured, which he clearly is...He is plodding along at best, no sprint in his legs.

yeah we really needed to have a hugely obvious free kick for us to be paid. Hamish was holding the ball in the last couple mins cannot believe they let that shit go. But geelong got a lot of soft ones tonight.. whatever.Raef wrote:great effort by the boys I thought - I'm not usually one to blame umpires for a loss, but that was BULLSH*ITE!!!

Got nothing from Cloke and Swan, if they had of contributed in a meaningful way we would have won that game.
In the last few minutes there were three key moments that cost us:
1.) That shit kick from Swan off the side of his boot to the wing that resulted in a turnover.
2.) Pendles not kicking it long inside 50 towards the boundary from the middle of the ground, instead holds on and causes a turnover.
3.) Sidey getting brushed off the ball by Duncun in the middle which resulted in Hawkins goal.
So frustrating as we can beat teams like this but our general poor skill execution, fumbling nature and poor decision making at key moments cost us this game, I hope we improve in these areas because losing winnable games is hard to stomach.

best defenders being the key word. usually more then one. He should have got probably 2-3 free kicks tonight to be honest.SteveH67 wrote:Games like this, show why there was debate on how much Cloke was worth re-signing for.

My one issue with the game is geelong throws about 2 guys behind the ball hole game then as soon as kick comes in and they get a turn over they piss bolt down the other end. We need to make a decision against teams that do this to either man those guys up or do the same exact thing on our defensive side..

I think the full backs were the difference in the game. Lonergan was excellent on Cloke, whereas Hawkins got on top of Frost who put in a good effort but simply isn't strong enough one on one and makes a few too many simple errors for a full back. We need Brown back asap.
Overall a good performance from us tonight. I've said all along that this season will be a slow build for us, and tonight was about what I expected.

We were very competitive against a much more experienced side, had brown and reid played, we would have won, no doubt about it. Big girl Hawkins on a kid playing his fifth game, who did well really, but just got away from him at end. Im disappointed with the loss, but I can take heart from our competitiveness, theres a lot of upside about us, Langdon, frost, Elliott, seedsman, grundy, Thomas, and Maxy is far from done yet. Get back a few guys, and we can only improve.

Endeavour was great. Defensively we are getting better. I am still worried that we have no system when moving the ball forward. I just don't know what style of game we are trying to play.
And we are world champs at kicking the ball to the leading players feet. No one does it better than us

We played well for large parts of the game. Put Reid in to help Cloke (White is a great third tall, not a second tall), Brown down back and a fit Swan and we look a lot better. Pendles, Beams, Maxy all down the race during the game, better with those guys fit and firing. Put that into perspective and we win.
We'll get better as the season goes on, make no mistake (as MM would say) about it. We improve a bit with out disposal and we win
And as for the umpiring, give us a first quarter without being raped and we win.
We'll take them the second time we play them. We'll beat Richmond and North and Carlton and possible Essendon, be 5-2 or 4-3 at the break, win the next 5 and take the fight to the Hawks at 10-2 or 9-3 and in to 8. We're tracking ok for a team full of kids IMO.
A holding the ball free in the last 3 minutes (instead of made up frees against up) and we win...

Are you shitting me?! Those two were our BEST players along with Harry, by the length of Flemington.Adz wrote:Young, Fasolo must be dropped.
Season on the line next week.
So tell me again, exactly how much is Eddie paying Cloke, Swan and that fcktard Lappin, to burn up oxygen?
The other players busted their nuts all night, but Cloke and Swan, it was like having two Andrew Williams out there slaughtering the ball, with shithouse 2nd efforts.
But yes, lose next week against Bitchmond, and start circling in 2015 on the calander.
