Please no one pick negatives out of that we played pretty well considering how melbourne set up. Any team can limit a teams out put if they place a completely defensive game. They pretty much didn't go for the win there, and commentators saying its a good effort is just ridiculous. If we didn't take the game on that would have been the most boring game of AFL in a long time. GO PIES>

Good win, lousy game, tremendous defence, Swanny surely injured. Time to march on to September.

If he was injured I don't think they would have played him. Poor disposal and general kicking is not injury related.

Also add that that was a poor effort by Melbourne. 3 goals in 4 quarters is amateur stuff, despite the nonsensical commentary team waxing eloquent about the coming greatness of the Demons. Ludicrous.

Boring game really, typical bloody Roos bullshit negative crap, ala swans, instead of losing by ten goals, ya lose by five. It rarely works against really good sides tho, this low scoring crap. Good win considering that, and the fact we had a number of guys down on form, and to beat this upper class gits in their version of the GF, was pretty good, they had all hype and media and still came up short. ! Move onto doggies now, reload and pump them.

Take the 4 points. But very ugly for three quarters.Second lowest winning score for Pies since 1988 according to Sandy Roberts. Young was very good. No coincidence we switched on when Beams got going. Our defense is superb.

We are 8 and 3 with an easier draw to come and good players to come back in.

Guess what folks, this season looks very much like a rerun of 2010. A mighty good year to pinch a flag. :D

Ughh....

I'll take the win but that was a stinker and not our fault at all.

Negative, defensive, dour, conservative, boring, uninspired....welcome back Paul Roos.

One massive positive was the defense all day today. Frosty and Keefey were terrific all day and are forming a fine defensive spine. Keefe is a must for our side and should be safe in our best side from now on.

Actually really enjoyed our effort. We ground down roos's deplorable and boring game plan and doubled their score. Can I get the maths on that percentage pls?

With such a young group of players I really don't care how they get to the finish line as long as they get there first. All their skill errors inclusive they are finding ways to beat side. One could argue it was just st Kilda, or just the dees but they still have to find away with all their lack of experience to beat them.....and they have. Roll on boys. Well done.
No Pressure, No Diamonds

They used to be a happy team at hawthorn.

A very good win. The kind of win a premiership contender has.

They did what Roos' teams do: clog it up and prevent any fast scoring. And as always, especially against us, the fatal flaw is not being able to score enough themselves. We did a great job of putting some pressure on their little leadup passes and then making sure they had nowhere to go when they tried to go forward. End result: only 3 Melbourne goals.

In the end what we had was a percentage booster: 218%. Which is more like a 60-70 point margin.

Young was very good today. Best on field and his best game for the club. Brilliant run and some great foot skills.

Seedsman could have got more of the ball, but some of the runs he did provide were electric.

Cloke worked his way into the game and had a decent one by the end.

Grundy was excellent in the first half. Faded a bit but was far better than Witts who was ordinary.

Thomas acquitted himself better than Adams did last week after a shocking first quarter where he did not touch the ball. Finished with 20 touches. Only 1 clearance though, and I think the last two weeks have shown that Ball is still our number 1 primary extractor.

Fair to say this match wont be a big seller over at name a game.

Got the win but a fair bit of work still needed when it comes to transition into out forward 50 area if we are to match the likes of Port and Hawks IMO.
