Barring 5 minutes at the start of the game, and 5 minutes at the ned of the 3rd- we outplayed them or at worst broke even.
All you sooky doomsayers- please go and suck a fat one.
I would bet very few of you were actually at the game.
Umpiring was atrocious-
2 key decisions killed us in the third
1. that bewildering push in the back to lewis- when it was clearly holding the ball and should've have been a goal to broomhead
2. The bullshit throw against Pendles called from an ump 100 metres away-a s we were streaming into our forward line with momentum up.
Umpiring didnt necessarily cost us the game- but the 29 point margin absolutely flattered Hawks.
A 2 goal win to hawks was about right.
Pendles did all he could to get us over the line.
Travis was awesome- but would rather have him struggling and us winning!
Elliot id better than Cyril and does not give up.
Adams was fantastic today.
No run from h, young, seedsman off half back.
Marley destroyed Cyril- who as usual swooped in for some cheapies when game was done.
Ball was great, Blair did well and neither deserve the crap being spouted by some on here.
Toovey got towelled up by Breust.
Not so bad-
MUST WIN NEXT WEEK!

It was a courageeous effort given the players we had out...a far more substantial set of injuries than Hawthorn. I agree that we have a great future. But I think we can also think about 2014. Cloke has just hit form. This is not to be underestimated. I thought that if we could put up a respectable performance today, and Cloke could hit form, then we could still do alot of damage this year. We have so many of our top 22 to come back in: Steele, Nick Maxwell, Tyson Goldsack, not to mention Ben Reid...plus the blistering pace of wild card Ben Sinclair and the unknown quantity that Karnesis (sorry if i spelled that wrong) can provide. We can potentially still build up momentum this year. After today's performance, I am still not writing off our prospects for making an impact in the finals this year.

Breust is a hell of a good player, more dangerous than Cyril...BUT i don't think Toovey has been the same player since the knee, and though we need the experience, i wonder whether his time is moving into the twilight. Scharenberg, Sinclair, Seedsman will all test his place, and probably provide a lot more run and drive off half-back. Or, as a left-field thought, I wonder whether possum might be the other mid-size tall we need on our forward line ? I can recall him kicking goals as a forward in his early career, amd we really need someone with experience, defensive skills and ball-winning ability up there.matrix10 wrote: Toovey got towelled up by Breust.

Our disposal efficiency was better than hawks (or at least it was @ %77 when they put it up on scoreboard at 3/4 time??)ThePieMind wrote:We had enough of the ball to win today but our disposal efficiency killed us and until it improves we are no chance for a flag.
Fix this and we showed today we have a game plan to tame the hawks.

We turned the ball over continually going forward and missed handball targets as well all day - not sure we did better today on our DE ranking which is around 15.matrix10 wrote:Our disposal efficiency was better than hawks (or at least it was @ %77 when they put it up on scoreboard at 3/4 time??)ThePieMind wrote:We had enough of the ball to win today but our disposal efficiency killed us and until it improves we are no chance for a flag.

NO,umpires can directly influence the momentum of a game, and two shocking decisions by them today, cost us two goals and momentum. Im not saying we would have won, but it would have been lot closer, even allowing for the senior guys we had out too. What'sinaname wrote:Agree. we didn't play well enough to win. only half the side played well!
