Great victory. Real grit and mental strength.
You can't just apply mechanical measures and
say that because Carlton is low ranking we should have win
by more. The AFL comp is not like that nowadays. The differences
between teams has shrunk.Carlton almost beat Geelong recently
and Adelaide defeated PA today.
I think Taylor Adams is a real player. Sure, he makes mistakes, but he also keeps getting the ball and driving it forward. He had enormous psychological strength. Jarrod Witts today as well
showed some really amazing courage.
Yeah sure we need to improve. But let's salute tonight the iron will
to win shown by our team.

Some of you blokes need to get a grip. By how far do you miss the point ?

Does having no CHF mean anything ?

Do the names Reid, Maxwell, Williams, Langdon and Brown ring any bells ?

Four of them would go straight into the backline and the other, to CHF.

How experienced are Witts & White as a ruck combo ?

We beat Carlton.

I'm proud of the boys.

'Not 15 metres only applied to us'. We sure can't afford to lose Elliot. Without him we have one natural forward in Cloke and a bunch of resting midfielders and defensive forwards to kick a winning score. Gee I hope Jamie is ok and that Karnezis, Reid and Fasolo can get back within three weeks as our forward like looks like a cemetery.

Swan

30 Possessions may look like a good day out, but it looked like an extremely ordinary night for Swan from the Ponsford stand. I will reserve judgement until I watch the replay but initial impression of his game was not good.

Kennedy, on the other hand, was splendid. Our biggest issue at the moment is that without Elliot and a 2nd marking option out forward line is mediocre at best. White is a good ordinary 3rd tall who can ruck a bit but despite his size, he lacks any ability to impact the contest or take control of a game.

Well said donny, spot on. We are basically crippled with injuries, yet ground out a gut busting win, iron will. Hiss would whinge if it were raining old whores, and he got hit with a bikini clad cindy Crawford. 8)

Heaps of talent unavailable in a hard fought win on a freezing mid Winter night.
All up, I'm pretty happy as that is nowhere near our best side, but we scrapped a win.
Yeah some blokes didn't play well, but Sidebottom, Goldsack & Kennedy were pluses.
I'm super impressed with Frost & Witts.
Adams played a good game too.

The forward line remains the Achilles heel of the pies.
That and the backline not functioning as well as early in the year because of injuries and fatigue (Langdon)
Cloke was very good again but there isn't enough support for him both in the air and on the ground. We get few clean easy precision kick to position and set shot goals like the hawks did to us last week.

Kennedy and Adams are a great injection of youthful energy into the team.
A couple of nice passes from Adams as well to keep the spud jibers quiet. He will continue to get better.
The season is on the line next week. Find a way to win and the top four is still a chance. They need to lift a cog or three to compete with the best though.

Still I'll take a win any day after the week. they could have easily fallen off the lead.
Great to get another win on the board against that team and that coach.

Swannie is clearly labouring. Yes, he got it 30 times, but all dribbles and handball receive backs and going backwards. Remember that we are talking about the best player in the league , or close to it, over the last four years.

When he does mark it, he just props and goes back to take his kick, rather than scoot off like he normally would.

Has anyone bothered to tag Swan this year?

Any chance we have of doing really well this year will require Swannie back to his best. So have a few weeks off, either to recover from injury if that is the issue, or to revitalise, if that's it.

No point being in the finals with no hope. Have to manage the team now with a view to September.

Just got home and I'm attempting to defrost with a nice cup of tea.

Buckley 4 - Geriatric Old Goat 0 - all is right with the world.

Really scrappy win after a promising 1st quarter, but we are really knackered by injury. Langdon & Williams out really cost us a lot of run from the backline.

I'd like to formally apologise to Sidey for ever doubting whether he could take his game to the next level. He was head & shoulders above everyone else on the ground. Silly bugger probably cost us the Foostcray game.

Cant agree with the criticism od Swan tonight. Thought it was one of his better games for the year. I think he is judged to harshly. He wont be getting back to where he was a couple of seasons ago, but he's still very good.

Caff did a fantastic job on Murphy. Both captains were heavily tagged, only one stood up.

Adams is really improving every week now, and Kennedy was very good when he come on. Looks like Elliott will be out for a while with a hammy - unbelievable!

Blair & White are becoming a real worry. I reckon we will be better off playing Witts & Grundy, and dropping White. Cant be any worse. Maybe he will be better if and when Reid in in the side.

As for Blair, he may keep his place now that Elliott is injured, but really, is there any point? We are a 6 to 8 team. If we want to go forward next year, Its time to try something different.

Anyway, happiness is beating the Scum, no matter by how much, or what it looks like. There is just nothing better.

Time for another cup of tea.

18 handballs that went about 18m combined, half of them into the ground, the other half to a player ready to be tackled. He was lazy and lethargic as he has looked most of the season

woo hoo Bucks 4 and

old mickey (I'll never coach against my boys) madhouse 0

stick that in your pipe and smoke it. love beating the scum. don't necessarily

care how ugly the win is, so long as we beat them - and we did. this was a

very ugly game to watch. it was more like watching a game of rugby union

with all the mauling. the conditions didn't help either and those pricks were

always going to come out and have a crack, so it was never going to be

easy; but we held it together stayed composed under pressure when the

going got tough. the game was there for either side to win tonight but we

were the deserved winners in the end and when you consider how

decimated we are by injuries, then you realise just how important and

meaningful wins like this are. kennedy did well as did beams, pendles and

sidey. would like to see thomas get more involved. young was good in

parts and seedsman will become a great player in the future after a full

preseason or two. harry tries too hard to take the game on and I don't like

our obsession with handballing ourselves into a frenzy and when under

pressure. we need to stick tackles. cloke was good I thought. shame about

elliott. blair gave us nothing...again. how he continues to get a game is

beyond me. we need to start playing more accountable football and not this

zoning off bullshit and not manning up on the rebound. we will be a

seriously good team in 1-2 years once our players are all fit and back

playing regular football and our draft picks settle. ball didn't look right

tonight and although swan had a heap of possies, he too wasn't at his

usual best. still we beat the bastards again and that's all that matters.

Rapt with Witter, Keeffe, and Tayles this game. Dwyer, Sidey, Beamer, and Pendles a special mention. Youngy did well in patches too.

Geez we can fall asleep as a team. We looked like a team fighting for a 7-8 spot on the ladder at best. Not this year....but I'll still hope.

Go the Pies

Gee I thought it was a good win considering this was their granny and we are absolutely decimated by injury.

Witts was good around the ground tonight. Improving by the week. God help us if he cops an injury this year.
