And we're ahead in the win loss stats against the Blues for H&A games. It's the 8-14 finals record that's keeping us behind in the overall record against them.woftam wrote:4 points banked. Another victory over the scum. I'll take it.
Not a great game to watch skill wise but it certainly seemed we had them covered whenever they looked like challenging.
Hopefully get Williams, Langdon & Maxwell back into defence this week.
Best case scenario, we have to wait 3 more years to overtake them as I can't see them playing finals any sooner than that

A win is a win and is to be celebrated on its merits. The Scum came to play and lost to us for the 4th time in a row.
The game also confirmed that Dollar Daisy has now been fully embraced his life as a Scum player and demonstrated the skills and ethics of a typical Scum player.
It was wonderful to see MM loose to "Class" once again. The irony is that he and the Scum have none.
Go The Pies.
Keep developing our future stars so that we will be a force to be reckoned with in 2016 and onwards. Just to think that our top draft picks for 2014 have not yet taken the field and have much to offer long term.

I have been a vocal advocate of everyone being able to vote their opinion in general discussion, positive or negative, but honestly Jack, you would have to be one of the most soul sucking, draining, negative, kill joy posters I have ever encountered. I don't agree with a lot of what Lazza has to say, but his heart is in the right place, and I would rather read his posts than the tripe you come out with any day of the week.collie dog wrote:Enjoying your little session of "we are the most loyal Pies supporters on Nicks" are you?Lazza wrote:I have said it time and again Piesnchess that the Mods here should have a separate section for the "perceptive fellow". Fair dinkum, we need a separate "perceptive fellow" section for these fools...
You guys talk about fee speech on Nicks but you don't believe it. It's not just ostriches that have their heads in the sand. (that's for Lazza who only ever comes onto this forum to bag other Pies fans).
(Also, wd Ben Ken, your performance gave me a stiffy during a fairly lackluster game. Fingers crossed our defence can tighten up again this week against GC with the injection of Langdon, Marley and possibly Maxy. Go pies!)

Thanks Stupied. I can only hope that SOME of the sensible comments from you and others influence the "perceptive fellow" like collie dog/Jack Spain..Stupied wrote:I have been a vocal advocate of everyone being able to vote their opinion in general discussion, positive or negative, but honestly Jack, you would have to be one of the most soul sucking, draining, negative, kill joy posters I have ever encountered. Correct weight. Nail hit head. Although I'd vary from the Daisy comments.Member 7167 wrote:A win is a win and is to be celebrated on its merits. The Scum came to play and lost to us for the 4th time in a row.

I knew it was going to be small crowd when I could park the car so close to Alexandra Avenue next to the tan / Sidanee Myer Music Bowl at 6.40pm!!

Come on guys be happy with the win. Sure the performance wasn't spectacular by any means but any win over Carlton is a good win regardless of the circumstances behind it and to finish off their season once and for all couldn't be sweeter to be honest.
Anyway I thought this was a great win considering the number of exclusions we had in the side as opposed to the Blues. Our defence was decimated with injuries so to see the likes of Frost and Keefe lead the way in the defence was absolutely brilliant to watch. It's really pleasing to see that Keefe has regained his good form from 2012 recently and Frost has been a revelation this year as a whole.
The inclusions of Sidebottom, Goldsack and Kennedy were fantastic and vital to the team's win. Sidebottom was clearly the best on ground with 33 disposals, 6 marks, 9 tackles, 7 clearances and two goals for the match. Stats like those are what we love to see from Sidey and if he can produce similar performances like that in the near future then he's clearly taken his game to the next level. While Goldsack doesn't get a lot of the ball he's presence and pressure acts are first class and are just what we needed in this game after missing him against the Bulldogs and Hawthorn. About time Ben Kennedy got a game in the seniors and from what I saw I was very satisfied with his overall performance. His ball use was excellent and he appeared more confident with it then he has in previous times. He definitely stays in the side for the Gold Coast game.
Strong games by Pendles, and Clinton Young who is really starting to fulfil his role at the club really well. While not huge on the physical side of the game, Young's ball use by foot is magnificent so that in itself is keeping him in the senior side comfortably. In regards to Dane Swan, he didn't have a bad game by any means but he does appear to have some kind of issue with his running ability as I saw in the last final quarter when he stopped chasing during a time when Carlton kicked an easy open goal. I just wonder whether he's carrying an injury or not. Nevertheless I don't doubt Swanny's ability as he's still a champion player for the club.
Our forward line still needs a lot of work to improve to the standard to match the best sides in the competition. It's a pity that Elliott sustained an injury and we can only hope that doesn't keep him out for too long as him and Cloke are our only viable forward line options at the present time. Jesse White really needs to go back to the reserves and I think replacing him with Grundy would be the logical move by the coaching stuff as Grundy provides us with that height that is required to replace White and he can play as a forward and share the ruck duties with Witts. White is out of form and doesn't go in hard enough for my liking. Many had big expectations of him over the pre-season but I was never convinced by him but hopefully he improves soon whether that's in the senior side or in the VFL.
Overall satisfying win but there's still plenty of improvement left in us and hopefully some of our players return to the side from injury soon especially our defenders including Williams, Langdon, Maxwell and Reid who are vital players to the team. Ben Reid will be huge for our structures when he's fit and raring to play in the senior side.
Glad the crowd was bad as it sent a message to the AFL that we don't want Sunday night football whatsoever!! I commend those who attended on Sunday night as well!
Now bring on the Gold Coast!

I have been very positive about most things to do with the Pies this season and always. As I said to those who don't bother reading earlier posts, I am happy with the four points. Just because this season we are not in the race to win the flag doesn't mean I am being negative. (yep, that's for Lazza again).
