Brian Lake. How many weeks?
Up there with the chicken wing by Judd in my opinion. Attempting to choke Petrie last night and amazingly doing no serious damage.
An act of selfishness, cowardnesss, how many weeks will he get?
I'd say 4.

It was a little hard to see exactly what was done, and why - Petrie appeared to grope for Lake's face, and it was not clear from the video whether Lake was choking him at that point. Lake may be able to argue that it was a reaction to gouging, and provocation like that would matter in sentencing. Assuming Petrie's face-poking was a response to being throttled, rather than the cause of it, i'd say 4-5 weeks, because Petrie was unimpaired. Had (short-term, non-lasting) damage been done, i think we'd be looking at 8-10 weeks.

Last night Channel 7 did an interactive poll during the game asking viewers of how many weeks Brian Lake should get suspended for his incident with Drew Petrie. Two-thirds said he should get at least 3+ weeks suspension.

A choke does surprisingly little damage, unless he's crushing the windpipe rather than just cutting off the blood supply. A blood choke will have you passed out very quickly (5-10 seconds) and once bloodflow returns, you come to, and nothing is wrong. The hoo-ha about it is pretty funny, I've been choked out in martial arts training and it's really not bad at all.
Hard to tell exactly how he's doing it from what I've seen.

Surprised to see his teammate come out and publicly condemn him, particularly before a report has even been laid. Pretty unusual.

Doubt he's trained to know the difference between crushing someones windpipe and just "cutting off a blood supply".

Congratulations to those who totally misrepresented what I was saying. My point is all the "oh my god he might have died" crap from Doc Larkins through to the average forum poster is over the top nonsense. Of course he shouldn't do it, and of course he should get weeks but lets not make it out as an attempted murder.
