I'm a firm believer in giving people a second chance but he comes with baggage for sure.
Now I remember hearing recently he was playing in the NT somewhere I think and he kicked 13 or 14
He has talent a great goal sneak and can take a mark.
We would really have to do some indepth home work on his personal issues and can we assist him in his life away from football.
I think his demons come living away from family and not being able to handle the pressure and scrunity of being a AFL player. It's not simply about the demons of the drink plenty of players can suffer from that.
Until we could be 100% convinced he is ok off the field it's a no.
But heck I'm all for trying to find some forward potency to give us a edge

The ONLY way it would work is having the right people around him 24/7, supporting him to overcome his frailties and weaknesses (we all have them). Are Bucks and co the right framework to provide that?? I'm not too sure. I would have been more confident with MM in the same position (yes yes I know I know).qldmagpie67 wrote:I'm a firm believer in giving people a second chance but he comes with baggage for sure.

the tv show the recruit has shown me a greater insight into why aboriginal players are so difficult to keep in the system.
20-30 years ago when it was 2 nights a week of training then a game on saturday it was easy for them.
They dont wanna do AFL as a career, there family more then likely does. They just wanna play footy with their mates and get a bit of coin for it.
AFL is a 40 hour a week job now.
Did any of the harlem globe trotters play in the NBA?

Actually I'd be tempted to give Waylon a shot with a rookie pick. He adapted well over a short concentrated period of time.woodys_world69 wrote:the tv show the recruit has shown me a greater insight into why aboriginal players are so difficult to keep in the system.

Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down.

Let's see... he'll be 26 years old, hasn't played AFL for the best part of 3 seasons, hasn't got remotely the fitness base required to even get on an AFL list and has proven issues of living in Melbourne away from his traditional community.
File this under the "Let's get Cousins" pipe dream that people had and the club quite rightly shit canned years ago.
I reckon Jurrah would be best served getting his life in order before worrying about AFL football again anyway.

I would have been happy with Cousins too.Flashman wrote:Let's see... he'll be 26 years old, hasn't played AFL for the best part of 3 seasons, hasn't got remotely the fitness base required to even get on an AFL list and has proven issues of living in Melbourne away from his traditional community.

But yeah, Jurrah has a lot of work to do to convince any AFL club that he's worth picking up.

Is he a drinking buddy of yours?Heater_39 wrote:Is it any possibility that we could recruit Liam Jurrah to the footy club.
He is exactly what we need football talent wise and everyone deserves a second chance (Maybe third or fourth).
We could pick him up in the Pre Season Draft cheap as chips.
His best football is scary and he is an accurate kick.
I say take the risk.
Not fit for AFL football or society in general from what I can tell. A shame as he is an undoubted talent.
