Ditto. Even with Clark's issues fighting depression, he's still a much better player than Watts. Watts is soft, doesn't like a contest and goes missing when it counts. We already have a better version of Watts in White. White can at least kick a couple of goals a game.BEAMER09 wrote:Worst pick 1 I have ever seen...

^^^This. Add to that, key words flexibility, unpredictable for opposition backs (ie no more double teaming and raping of Clokey). Reid to swingman, as needed/required. Small fwds would have an outing. Improvement win/win all round I'd say. Couldn't agree more Sir Rudes!RudeBoy wrote:Getting Clark allows Cloke to play at CHF and Reid to play at CHB. That makes us a 5 goal better side imo.
Enjoy yourself. Its later than you think!

Not so sure why there are so many questioning Clark's ethics. If he felt he had no obligation to Melbourne he could have just kept silent until their first lot of delistings, and then put his hand up to go in the PSD with a nominated club. Who's going to recruit a guy who might retire again if he doesn't get to his destination of choice?
As it is, he informed them early, which allows them to at least get some return on him. If he'd stayed retired then they would have nothing, so they're automatically ahead here.
I'd be pleased as punch with a straight swap for H. Clark is a quality forward who would get genuine attention from defenders, easing the burden on Cloke and allowing Reid to either be put back to defence, or better, be a true swingman, swapping with Goldy during games.
As much as Harry has been a good servant at the club, it's time for a change. A move to a different club could well re-ignite his career and passion for the game. It's potentially a win-win trade we have on our hands here, and I'm all for it. We stand to gain a lot more from Clark (body and mind willing), than we lose from trading out Harry, and the same goes for Melbourne.

I'm a bit torn on this idea. It's nothing to do with his illness either. The guy suffered debilitating depression and quit the club that paid him so handsomely. This is after he screwed Fremantle by changing his mind at the last minute. Now he repays Melbourne's sensitivity to his personal problems by wanting to play elsewhere.
This doesn't seem to be the kind of man we should be chasing. I certainly believe he could have made a full recovery from his illness and I hope he has, but he appears to be a self-centred, disloyal type. Do we need such a man?

After the epic draw comes the decisive knockout!

I've never met him but I'm not sure that's fair on Clark.
I think he is a great player and would definitely improve us.
I've always been a fan since he broke out as a ruckman while Leuenberger was out injured in 2009. He was nearly AA and I think he was extremely unlucky to be dropped as No 1 ruckman when Leuenberger returned.
Then he ends up at a horrible club in disarray and gets injured.
In other words I think his career has been a rough trot mostly not of his own doing.
I don't think a straight swap of H for Clark is fair because I don't think they have the same currency. Not by a long shot. Clark was essentially a write-off for the Dees - anything they get for him from here is a bonus. Harry is a premiership player and current senior member of our best 22. Clark has been injured and then RETIRED and has no recent form to read.
If we are to get Clark for H then I want a draft pick thrown in, otherwise package Clark and Watts and we will give you H and something else we are prepared to give up. Like Young.
