Armstrong shut his detractors up a bit at the end of the year - I still say if Varcoe doesn't 'go when it's his turn' early days he'll be the new 'favourite'.
A squib effort followed by a shank kick and he'll be booed off the ground.
This is probably what he needed to 'get his head around'.
So props to him for having the courage to come at all
I'd say he'd be fully aware what he'll get over the fence from Pies supporters, been on the receiving end more than enough as a Cats player.
This makes me think he could surprise us. He can't be that stupid as to think he can come to Collingwood and play like he did this year without copping it from all angles. His career is too decorated to be remembered like that, he's got something more to give.
Leon's best footy came in his late 20's and early 30's.
I like it, he's a good punt. He has experience, is fast, can kick goals and tackles. At a time of his career where he needs to be reinvigorated.
Stats at the end of the highlights reel for 2014 said a bit too...
+ 25 disposals against the eventual premier Hawthorn in a match
+ 10 tackles in a game against Brisbane.
+ Played 23 games in a team that was much better than ours.
Bring it on. Let's go Trav.
So, a nickname is now required. Some Collingwood supporters have been calling him "Varsehole" for the last few years but I expect that will require some adjustment. Any suggestions?

Yes mate they're all promising signs and what must be remembered is that Varcoe missed virtually the entire 2013 season as well so he'll take some time to get back to his very best (much like Dale Thomas for the Scum if you listen to his defenders) and playing 24 games this year is a very good base to build off.

All soft as butter, all should be playing magoos, all have contracts at Collingwood. WTF?? imagine all of these washouts on the park all at once. it'll be like watching clowns trying to climb a wall with roller-skates on.
Varco???? oh please. another disinterested player on the list.
enjoy your holiday in Baliwood Varco.
You be the judge on the following players for the passion, heart and skills they showed while wearing the black and white against the four newcomers:-
Heath Shaw vs Tony Armstrong
Dale Thomas vs Clinton Young
Chris Dawes vs Jesse White
H vs Travis Varcoe
It's not even close.
Hearing the 'Black & White Army' roar is the greatest sound in the world.
