Draft smokeys
I've always taken an interest in draft smokeys and the mature guys from the burbs or the bush.
I saw this article on the AFL website earlier about Jack Geary from Golden Square. His credentials (dreads) remind me of Chris Irving from Seaford who trained with us in about 2008 or 2009.

Does anyone know of some other bush draft smokeys?

Yeah I'd be very sceptical of a build like that considering the amount of cardio required to be gun Aussie rules player, if he was late 20s-early 30s I might beieve it, but not early 20s.stui magpie wrote:I hear that. I've met him at a Chrissy work function. Seems a down to earth guy. Did know him until we got talking about footy when he explained he played for the Square. I said oh so you would have won a flag or so. He said yeah, five.
He captain vic country in the state comp. So consider a good leader.
Haven't seen him play, so can't comment on what he plays like. Hope he gets a crack.
I don't think BFL is the highest country standard going around, but there are plenty a great league players from here. And a few that didn't get selected till later in their careers like Crameri.
I don't understand why guys like him didn't have a season or two at the Bendigo Gold. If they wanted to attempt an AFL dream, that was what the club was for. A stepping stone. It seemed the Gold could get the best Bendigo talent playing for them. So be it. They folded.
