Has momentum ever played such a big part in football?
I doubt it.
You feel accurate goal kicking and quality umpiring is more important than ever when you either have the momentum or are fighting against it.
A few missed shots on goal or some inconsistent umpiring interpretations going against you during these periods of play are just killers in today's game.

Special appreciation is needed for Jarrad Waite. Gave me some epic lols today with his ridiculous snap out of bounds from 10m out in the first, and his wonderful pass in the centre of the ground under no pressure to Blair in the 3rd quarter which resulted in a goal to Crisp.
Essentially two goals gifted to us by the big man. Thanks Jarrad!

To think North recruited him because they thought he would be the player that could give them that extra drive to win a flag this year. Talk about a team that has no idea where it sits and is further away from winning a flag than we are.Stupied wrote:Special appreciation is needed for Jarrad Waite. His Carlton-esque moments are rubbing off at North Melbourne now.

Probably a good reminder to some of us myself included that we should appreciate the win for what it was and not what it should or could have been in a perfect world.John Wren wrote:we simply had no luck in the first half whether it was a line ball decision, the ball bouncing the other way or just a fumble here or there. we just couldn't get our hands on the ball but when we did it changed the complexion of the game. it also helped that north couldn't kick straight and kept us in the game.neil wrote:First half awful second half great but we were lucky North missed a number of goals
Best thing is the second half means the players self belief and confidence will go sky high which is very important for a young side
for all the faults of the first half, that third quarter was simply stunning. i was nearly in tears. it gives the guys a reference point for what they are capable of.
While internet sites like Nick's and social media have opened up wonderful opportunities for like minded people from all over the world to come together, you can't help but feel our ability to scrutinise the minutia of a football game and it's players because of it's presence has taken our focus off what is most important, which is the simple enjoyment of witnessing our side pull off a memorable victory and basking in it for a few days.

Especially as he threatened to rip us a new one too. Had his chances to be the man today, but instead, thanks Jarrad!Stupied wrote:Special appreciation is needed for Jarrad Waite. Yes exactly and you could also argue that Quinten Lynch and Clinton Young fall under this category as well.35reasons wrote:He is to North what Jordan Russell was for us.Jezza wrote:To think North recruited him because they thought he would be the player that could give them that extra drive to win a flag this year. Collingwood 2013 is like North Melbourne 2015. Both clubs think they're close to winning a flag but they're nowhere near it.

I stopped reading the game day thread at half time as I was becoming depresse, and all on my birthday. I thought I would just sit back, enjoy whatever footy came along in the second half and let it be.
A thoroughly enjoyable spectacle. Well done Pies. Congrats to Cloke, Swan, Elliott... make it the entire team stepped up and made us proud. And the win was a great birthday present.

Those stats are completely insane (and will probably not be seen again), not even the 2010-11 teams produced that sort of efficiency.
