Shocked at the news.

Thoughts with his friends and family.

The gravity of things that can't be undone always weigh heavy, never more so in such a tragedy.

ADELAIDE coach Phil Walsh is dead after a domestic dispute at his home. His son has been arrested.

"Police can confirm that the man murdered at Somerton Park in the early hours of the morning is Phil Walsh, coach of the Adelaide Crows," police said in a statement.

His 26-year-old son was arrested after police were called to a domestic dispute at the home in Somerton Park at 2am on Friday.

R.I.P. Phillip Walsh.

Touched so many lives in the football world, worked at 7-8 clubs apparently throughout his time, and that's just at senior level.

Shattering and shocking.

The exact circumstances are unknown of this tragic event, and out of respect I think any speculation in regards to family dynamics should not be commented on until all the facts are known . Vale Phil Walsh a true football person, and one of our own.
Is there any place you would rather be, than with me at the MCG?

Phil Walsh only played one season for Collingwood, 1983. He was part of that great centreline of Barham, Raines, Walsh. And he was recruited from Hamilton, in our much maligned country zone.

Unfortunately after one year he was made an offer by Richmond, as payback for the recruiting of Raines and Cloke. Richmond didn't really want him, and after 3 years he was sent off to the Brisbane Bears, yet another in the great Magpie contribution to the founding of that wretched club. Fortunately for us he was replaced at Collingwood by the great Bruce Abernathy.

Even though he only played one season here, he was a worthy son of Collingwood, and he won the best first year player award for 1983. He should be remembered as such.

Unconfirmed reports coming out of Adelaide as to the cause of the dispute between Phil and his son, which I won't repeat out of respect as suggested by piester. Suffice to say, if these unconfirmed reports are true, this is far more tragic than any of us had thought.

David King and Daniel Harford were talking about how Robo did an article on Walshy a while back where Walshy actually said there had been tension between him and his son because footy was taking up too much of his time and how he was endeavouring to reconnect with him. So we know "something" about there being tension in the past. But I get your point.
