The term "coconut", in this context, is insulting. The colour of the person's skin, who uses this term, is immaterial. Murphy's original complaint was when aboriginal players used this phrase, in relation to himself, in an insulting manner.
It is possible for people to use such insulting terms, amongst their inner circle, in friendly banter. But even then it is fraught with danger, and sometimes leads to outbreaks of hostilities.
Having said that, let's just let this topic die!
