Personally I would like to see us pick up Brown, Solomon and Beau McDonald....dreaming maybe..but with so many kids playing for us we must have plenty of room to move within the Salary Cap..

Cheers

Natahan, Soloman, Taz and Mark Alvey all played UNder 18's footy together here in Bendigo and were all very close... and as far as I know they all still are!! I for one have seen taz, solly and browny all out and about the pubs and clubs together... maybe that is what collingwood is after.. suring up taz with his mates to keep him longer... Just a possibility!!!

Tupac/commonwombat,
I was unaware that Didak has just re-signed. And given that is the case is untradeable. Fair enough, good point.
Someone will be sacrificed if we get Stevens or Brown and it will be someone of quality like Didak. Not a fringe player!!!!

Richmond are looming as a key player in trade with Richo's future in doubt and Ben Holland being told he will be traded. Holland and Richo would look pretty appealing to the dogs I would think so Richmond would have to be the favs to get him. Richmond are apparently making a big play for a number of Essendon players including Soloman.

I agree with JLC about Leon and we have both said it a number of times. Don't kid too carried away bagging Cole, Rhyce and Clokey they are all young and will all continue to improve, I would expect all of them to become top of line players in the next couple of seasons.

Also people if you don't know anything about a player don't say he should be traded. I read one post saying Mullins could be trade bait, thats just rubbish he is 18 and has just completed a very solid year at Willi with both MM and Gotchy quite pleased with his progress.

Richo will be at the Tigers he is their marketing tool. It's like saying the Pies will trade Bucks.

What does everybody think about Jade Rawlings? Word on the street is he is leaving Hawthorn as alluded to by Gerard and the folks on the couch last night because of no more long term contracts. Looks to be a very good player also.

And on Rhys Shaw does anybody else think he is there because of his last name? This is not just because of yesterday he has been pretty poor all season yes you do want players with legspeed out of the backline but every time we get run he doesn't get his head up and sprays his kicks anywhere.

Aw come on bucks Shawry's been good this year, he's usually a pretty accurate kick.

Yeah short memories - Rhyce had some great finals and one in particular against a team from Brisbane.
Let all your troubles be forgot for we are Collingwood. We'll fight it out until the end we're Collingwood. So help me Jock.
Two pies and two beers thanks!!

I am not convinced about Shaw's long term future BUT am willing to give him immense credit for what he acheived this season. At the start, it was a case of perform OR face certain delistment at the end of the season. To his credit he knuckled down and his hard work made it hard for selectors to overlook him. Overall, I consider his season a mixed bag; some good some less so. He did fall apart in the GF, but then again he was no orphan and he was at times asked to play loose man, something beyond his physical capabilities agst such a physical team. His disposal, whilst far from brilliant, did show signs of improvement. Would ditch others such as Cole and McGough before him. He stepped forward this year, wheras I cannot honestly say that these other 2 made any real progress as footballers from 2002.
he's an animal, what can u expect!!!

Item in todays Australian 30/09/03 pg16

'...Stevens wants to join Collingwood, who will vigorously attempt to trade a package of players to gain an early round one national draft selection to on trade to the Power as part of their offer.
So far, the Magpies have tentatively offered Steven McKee, Jarrod Molloy and Mark McGough to rival clubs, without success...'

It also mentions Carlton have offered Stevens $2m over 4 years but I'm not sure if they have that many brown paper bags

Word is that Carlton are throwing money at a lot of people. That is the way Ian Collins does things. Carlton and Richmond will both have money to throw around cos they both have salary cap room due to their poor lists. At least Richmond will have room now that they have sacked Holland, don't be surprised if other highly paid players from Richmond or Carlton are traded.

2 players that could be traded to port in return for Stevens are Camporeale and Holland who are both Sth Australians.

#40 Crow - delistable
#41 Maxwell - delistable
#43 Roe - delistable

#45 Eichner - gone

Coach: Mick Malthouse - 1. Needs to stop playing J Cloke forward.
2. Needs to play only 2 of Shaw, Lokan, Lonie, Cole at any one time.
3. Pick the senior side based on form and THEN concentrate on match ups. (I don't see how it's fair to allow so much leeway for a Williams, yet send blokes like Scotland, McGough, Betheras packing to Williamstown on their first mistake).
4. Show some FAITH in Scotland. IMO was amongst our best in the GF. Disposal was pinpoint and continually kept his feet/wits when tackled.

Trade options: Jacobs, Solomon, Stevens, Brown, Lade
