This season may see the biggest trade period in a long time JW.
in a way i hope so. they always promise so much but we get doughnuts in the trade period.
Yeah you are right JW.

I'm quite pessimistic about getting any big names due to the season we have just had but I live in eternal hope!! Good players from lower teams tend to go towards clubs in with a chance of bagging a flag I guess. :!:
Don't confuse your current path with your final destination. Just because it's dark and stormy now doesn't meant that you aren't headed for glorious sunshine!

I haven't read all of this book like thread.
My ignorant question is what would we expect to get for him
from any of the Adelaide Clubs.
we don't eat our own at collingwood we just allow them to foul our nest.

I'd say Scharenberg and Freeman together would constitute the runs.

Again with the glass half empty Lazza :D

I also run a pie shop in South Yarra and we have a booking for the Scharenbergs at 7pm on Friday.

I invite you and Rudeboy (if you want to be waiters for the evening we can discuss an hourly rate) to attend.

Fridays we have two offerings - The Vic (4&20 and a can of VB) or The Croweater (Pie Floater & a Westend)

If he orders The VIC, you and RB will have to pay for the Bergs meal and do the dishes, If he orders The Croweater, I'll shout the Bergs and both of you for AYCE...

***Pie shop reservation update***

The midweek manager has confirmed the Scharenberg reservation has been cancelled for Friday and will be re-scheduled for Saturday night for a much larger party.

Our nosey manager asked if there was any reason for the celebration and the answer given was Matt will be playing on Friday and an announcement of his contract signing will be released.

Unsure of with WHO or LENGTH of the contract as yet, will keep you posted.

I fully expect Thursday night Matt will be selected.
***further update***

Saturday's reservation now includes media attendance and one Mr S Pendlebury. Maybe a succession plan is in place or it could be Steve Pendlebury, sensei at Tokon Karate Acadamy. I'll keep you posted.

I agree Dave, but I'll get in before a pessimist and say it could simply be us trying to up his trade value a bit.

Collingwood's interest in Aish is complicated by their pursuit of Greater Western Sydney's out of contract midfielder Adam Treloar, who would cost the Pies their first draft pick, which will be inside the top eight or nine this year.

Meanwhile, Collingwood has started contract dicussions with Matthew Scharenberg, a friend and fellow SA team mate of Aish, about a new contract that would keep him in black and white next year and beyond.
Scharenberg has indicated to Collingwood that he wishes to stay with the Magpies, though the parties are yet to come to terms on a new deal. Scharenberg's management met with the Magpies this week.

Collingwood had been worried about whether Scharenberg, a highly rated pick no 6 in the 2013 national draft, might be lured home to his home state by the Crows, given the lengthy delay in contract talks. Scharenberg has promoted to play in Collingwood's team for Friday night's clash with Geelong.
That sounds very Promsing :D

Ok, maybe psychotic is overplaying it a touch. :P
it's not like rudie to be obsessive about anything. so out of character. schazza's re-signing, cloke's re-signing and the trading of cloke are just examples of aberrations.
Aberrations my arse! I proudly wear my heart on my sleeve and use Nicks to express my unbridled and completely irrational and obsessive love of Collingwood. My professional life, as an academic, is devoted to calm, careful and balanced research, always grounded on sound theory and evidenced based data. However, when it comes to all things Collingwood, I have to jettison this approach completely. I embrace Collingwood wholeheartedly, without question and am proudly obsessive, emotional, and single-mindedly loyal to the black and white cause. So when I post on Nicks, I don't do this from the perspective of an objective, rational and logical commentator, I do so as a one-eyed servant to the cause of Collingwood. Does this mean that I am sometimes/often way off the mark in my analysis/pronouncements? You bet it does. Does this mean that the mood of my postings swing up and down with Collingwood's fortunes on the field? You bet it does.

Finally, there are a couple of regular Nicksters whose commentary is almost always sober, measured, rational and objective. I feel sorry for them. If I want to be really objective, rational and sober in my feelings about Collingwood, I wouldn't even follow the Pies. After all, all football clubs, including Collingwood, are now corporate/franchise entities, run by men in grey suits, for the purpose of building their own empires. Even the players are mainly doing it for the money. So if I was to be really honest with myself, I'd probably give up following collingwood completely, knowing that it now has no real connection to its working class roots, where generations of my family came from. However, I choose to ignore these facts. I choose to be deluded and swept along by the romance of Collingwood. I know it's superficial and the 'opiate of the masses', but nevertheless I embrace it 100 per cent. So feel free to disagree with my opinions or pronouncements, after all, I often do so myself, shortly after posting them. But do not dare to attack me for being overly emotional, irrational or lacking in objectivity. Those who do can stick their unemotional, rational, sober and objective analysis up their arse. I'm a Collingwood man and proud of it.
I love this post! It is an emphatic, unbridled and uninhibited assertion of passion for Collingwood, which knows no rationality. I relate to it totally, and admire the honestly, forthrightness and clarity of expression of the writer. It is an inspiration to me as well. Don't feel inhibited by those who demand reason when it comes to one's love for the Pies!!

I have not seen a fat lady and to date I have not heard her sing.

Everything is either educated or non educated speculation until the contract is signed.

I think he will stay.
