Banksy wrote:It amazes me the crap some of you blokes come out with....Commonwombat,Joel and Daniel you carry on as if you're all in charge of recruiting down at Collingwood with all your player lists on who is tradeable and who's not.
If you knew anything about footy.....you wouldn't be suggesting that Richard Cole is tradeable.....he will be a star for us...so he had a bad GF....he will learn from that which will eventually make him a better player.
Boys stick you what you know best...which is definately not discussing possible trades.
So, you know better mate? Don't tell me what to do, and what not to do. This thread is about discussing possible trades? What is the problems there?

I love Richard Cole, the reason he is tradable, is because of the fact that his 'guardian' is a committee member at Essendon (oh, and gee, I know nothing  ). Now, I would prefer him to stay at Collingwood, but the fact remains, that if the kid wishes to go to Essendon (which he had his heart set on), then he would be tradable. But, I know nothing. Having said that, atm, if Cole wishes to stay, I would prefer him to stay.

Also, instead of criticising me, how about you re-read my post. I said he is 'tradable, but I don't want him to go'. HELLLLLO?

So, how about you think before you post, rather than coming out and criticising people that are actually having a go at dissecting out list, and seeing how we can potentially improve.

Now, come back to me when you are going to actually input. Next.

Pies move on Stevens (LINK)
By Stephen Rielly
October 1, 2003
Port Adelaide has entertained interest in Nick Stevens from four different directions but opened negotiations with Collingwood, the club of his choice, yesterday.

At a meeting of the two clubs yesterday morning, Port is believed to have put its asking price of two first-round draft picks, or a first-round pick and a player, on the table.

The same demand was put last week to Essendon and Carlton, the two other clubs Stevens has nominated as preferred destinations.

The Magpies have been linked with Stevens for weeks but remain concerned about their ability to work a deal to satisfy Port.

It is believed that after yesterday's meeting, Collingwood acknowledged that it would have to bring a third or fourth club into the deal to acquire the picks Port required.

Commonwombat,
Your summation of ol' Nat KingCole and the draft were spot on I thought. I think he's AFL/Collingwood reputation has so far been built on a few brave tackles that Wallsy loves. He's actual distribution and skills are not unreal. And he's not that quick. He made one run for the year against Geelong and almost tripped over his own feet....
I wouldn't write him off but he still has some development to go.

I think some people are getting abit too passionate and one-eyed about possible trades and delistings. Look at the individual players and list objectively.

We have to realise that alot of people are writing their thoughts based on CFC's requirements to take the next step and they are not trying to slander players personally. Not many players on our list would be untradeable given the right trade.

We have at the moment the best list we have had since the U19's came thru in 89/90 which yielded a premiership.
However, AFL sides are smarter than ever before and if we think we are going to get quality experienced players for fringe players, think again.

To quote MM. "If we don't improve our list every year by 10%, we are going backwards".

Trading Cole to Essendon would be a BIG mistake. When was the last time we dealt with Essendon and came out on top ??

Cole has had a pretty good year for a player of his age and i can only see him getting better given time.

For some reasons clubs fall overt hemselves to recruit players from Essendon. I find this baffling.

Ukovic, Moorcroft, Ridley, Olarenshaw are all but a few reasons why clubs especially Collingwood should steer clear. Fremantle have been a good club from which to recruit players perhaps we should look there.

Ask Byron Pickett the last time he put Brown from the Roos on his ass? You ask for proof that Cole will be a jet? Give me proof that any of the other youngsters that are "safe" will be a jet. My proof is my belief in the recruiting staff at Collingwood. Noel Judkins picked Cole, how's his record?

If others didn't see any promise in Cole this year then I was watching different games....yes he frustrated me many times. Did BJ or Josh ever frustrate you? Lica? Rocca? Didak? My list could go on about those who've frustrated me over the years when they were young.
My oxygen is Collingwood. Without it I die.

News just to hand......Collingwood will trade all parties who performed badly in last weeks GF. Leading the charge is a trade seeing Nick Stevens come to collingwood in a swap for MM who will start as an assistant to the all conquering Choco.

Essendon will receive their pick of Cole, Cloke and Leon Davis...while the bulldogs can have the rest of the 22 bar Fraser and bux in return for Nathan Brown

Collingwood's lineup next year is Fraser, Bux, Brown, Stevens....no others. For those of you who can't see....yes I'm taking the mickey out of trade talks so please don't take it to seriously.

I would not be trading Paul Licuria any time soon. His work ethic, tackling is pretty damn good. A lot of Licurias work goes unnoticed.

Do we really want another player who hangs around the edges of the packs waiting for the ball to be delivered to him?

Nick Stevens is a quality player. Remember what we all thought of Woey before he came to Collingwood? But, this year he could be seen under packs every game, over and over again.

Stevens is all class, if we don't go after him we would be stupid. Besides, we need to bolster our midfield, in the off chance that Bucks leaves within the next couple of years.

The thought of Buckley leaving is, is, unthinkable.
Must be a big question mark still over Woey now. Pardon my doubtful attitude but last saturday has got me doubtful about a whole lot of them.

I was at Vic Park and my photo's of the occasion are at http://lapitt.id.au/

Yep im with you joel, for those who are so one eyed that they cant see class from other teams, Stevens is one of the Classiest players ive seen in a while and would be massive if we can pick him up (alot bigger than woey last year).

He would fit into our Midfield and become our top midfielder and could also make another good move in moving Bucks to the Forward line as he is getting older (although the bloke will play till his 60).

Picking up Stevens instead of brown would be the best choice because of this reason.

He has to be our top priority, then we can focus on a strong Half Back Flanker!

Anyone who cannot see the value that Woey has added to the side hasnt really been watching this year. Why do you think Bucks had a sensational year.

Sure Woey's consistency wasn't 100% but his work effort cannot be knocked. Has anyone seen the stats and votes....he has been in our top 5 this year.

Plus why would they want to trade him when the Dees are paying some of his contract. Get rid of him and we haven't that much left in the salary cap.

Look out for Woey next year.
