I was also quite skeptical about getting Varcoe. How wrong I was. He has been absolutely fantastic all year. He throws himself into the contest ruthlessly and is always having second and third attempts at winning the ball.

I think that it is amazing he has not injured himself when considering the way he throws himself about. I would take him in Heritier Lumumba every day of the week and in comparison he is a quite achiever.

The guy has class written all over him, and that is the problem!
the lack of class from many of his team mates.
I think you could also include both Crisp and DeGoey as shinning lights as well. Levi Greenwood despite being injured is showing real potential and will be a real asset going forward. It would be hard not to mention Darcy Moore in dispatches despite his limited exposure.

And the promise Adams is showing too.

I'll also own up happily to being wrong about Varcoe, very happily.

Great season, now here's hoping he can at least maintain that form for the next couple of years.

Crisp has been very good and De Goey has done well for a first year player.
But Varcoe has played like an A grader all year and the others haven't.
I just love seeing class, I really do, whether it is kicking,, tackling, getting to the right position, poise, etc.... Varcoe just looked magical at times.
we don't eat our own at collingwood we just allow them to foul our nest.

Spot on. He and Pendles are the only truly silky players we have. When you add in Varcoe's speed, he's pure magic.

I love class. It is basically why I go to the footy.
I go to see something magical or special.
I once saw Daicos evade 3 tiger players at once!
Friggin amazing.
Watched Nic Nat in the ruck the other night and he was also awesome.
I will be watching him closely on Friday night.
Most of my best memories of football revolve around class.
It is why I find modern footy a little disappointing.
The rolling rugby maul of footy today stifles this class.
Anyway, getting back to Varcoe he seems to play the game in the
right spirit and he is fair.
I think this thread sees all posters agree that he has had a great year.
