First of all that's typical Balme responses so means nothing, but now expecting the Kruezer deal to fizzle and he'll stay at the filth.
There is Collingwood and then the rest.

I guess the medical didnt go so well.

Probably just Ferrett making things up again, but you never know with Hine. He's a master.

Not sure how I'd feel about helping Carlton to help ourselves. Bit of a hallow victory. :?
there is nearly zero chance the Carlton window will co-incide with ours as they are starting their rebuild with the picks they take this year. That puts them more than 5 years away from contending. In fact, they are precisely the team we should be helping if it is win-win we are looking for. same with brisbane last year. win-win for them and us is perfect. the club we don't want to be helping is GWS (unless its to shorten or lengthen the time when they get into their premiership window. WB is the other team we don't want to be helping. Feels like these three teams (coll, WB and GWs) will have a turn at the top after the Eagles, Tigers, Hawks and dockers come back to earth.
I like your posts E. I often get that 'yep this guy knows his stuff and looks at the whole picture feeling' when reading them.
I think if we polled every single person on nicks, you would still be the only one who says that, but thanks. Its nice to get positive feedback.

Lions have more of a case seeing as they're struggling to keep any of their players. Might help if they hired a real coach.

You do make some good points here E, but on the other hand, f*ck Carlton!

Nah you're right, if a good deal becomes available, we have to do it. It'd just be better if somehow Carlton got ripped off.

Happy either way on this one. I can see a lot of sense in signing Kreuzer but don't like him personally and definitely not liking the reported signing salary (even though I don't actually believe it).
Well done boys!

Does "industry sources" mean Nicks? Assumptions and whispers, along with things like Balmes comments posted here seem to be followed by further rumours in the media. And then those articles get posted on here and we think there is more evidence of something happening.

Unless the journo has a direct line to someone on the inside not sure why he would be going with that.

Interesting, not sure if this has been bought up: if Carlton don't offer Kreuzer a contract more than the trigger point for a pre first round draft pick, how can they expect a pre round if he leaves for more. Is this a factor in free agency?

^ no, it has not been brought up. as part of the compensation pick calculations kreuzer's current contract needs to be in the top 25% at his club. what he accepts from another club is then factored into the calcualtion too.

Given Kreuzer's poor medical history I don't understand why we would want him. Of course he needs to have a medical assessment but his past history (is there any other sort?) does not augur well for him for the future.

If you were an insurance company you'd be reluctant to have him insured or that the premiums would not be affordable.

Then again the insurance company would have access to all the details.

500-600K a year over four years for a player who is likely to break down at any stage, with the added bonus of helping Carlton land a low priority pick in the draft. No thank you.
