Lekkas Unhappy! Do we want him?

Lekkas losing faith in Hawks
02 October 2003 Herald Sun
By MICHAEL STEVENS

HAWTHORN midfielder Angelo Lekkas could join teammate Jade Rawlings in flying the Hawks nest.

Rawlings told coach Peter Schwab yesterday that he was quitting the club.

And Lekkas, 27, third in the best-and-fairest last year and tipped for a top-two finish this season, is furious at the latest developments.

Lekkas, yet to re-sign, had almost committed to a new deal on the basis that Rawlings was also staying.

Lekkas said last night he was uncertain about his playing future.

He will stay at Hawthorn. I would prefer Stevens myself.

Would be a handy pick up but would probably cost more than he is worth also there are better and younger players available. That said he had a excellent season and is a proven goal kicker

Well, I guess we'll need SOMEONE to replace all the players that the experts on this site seem to think we need to get rid of.

In the last few days I can't think of ANY Collingwood player who hasn't been suggested as trade bait.

Agreed some people are certainly getting carried away. I stated many times that I think it will be difficult for us to get any top players cos we don't have a lot to give away. None of our big names are going anywhere and Mick is not about to get rid of any of the good young guys. I think McGough may be an exception though cos from what I hear he and MM don't get along well

Lekkas

As one who went to a few Hawks games this year I have to say Lekkas is one of the best shots for goal I have ever seen. Can't imagine the Hawks ever releasing him.

Lekkas would be a good pick up, but I doubt he will leave Hawthorn.
