Awesome statistic, which really puts everything re Nathan Freeman and Ben Kennedy in perspective. If Hawthorn had only a 50% success rate, then this really indicates where the benchmark is, because as we all know, Hawthorn's player development is superb.AN_Inkling wrote: Strike rate is looking good. I've mentioned this stat a bit, but the Hawks were only successful with 4/8 top 10 picks when building.
We cannot therefore with any realism expect all our top 10 draft picks to develop into elite, or even just very good, players.
By the way, this year I thought that we really reached an outstanding level of excellence in the development of our young players. The development of De Goey, Crisp, Marsh, Maynard, Moore, (to mention only our first year players) was for me a highlight of the year.
