The guy gets a one season suspension for taking PEDs. Really, one has to wonder now whether the lunatics are running the asylum. Only Olympic sports seem to apply the full extent of the penalties.

BTW I'm still waiting on ASADA and Essendon's penalties. Looks like Lazza and co are right. We will be waiting until hell freezes over. So much for the so-called blackest day in Australian sport. What a joke!

Last night I had an enjoyable time fakely sympathising with an Essendon supporter about what a crappy year last year was, and how Dumbo Hird must have just wished he could flap his ears and fly away. Got my friend back for a miserable experience in the 80s after a game at Waverley. He weakly commented that they didn't do anything wrong and/or everyone else is doing it too.

So, Sharapova didn't read the updated banned substances list sent out by WADA in December & tested positive at the Australian Open. Fair enough that she should be banned or whatever the punishment is, but I think Capriati is taking it too far saying she should be stripped of all her titles.

Until this year it wasn't banned. Wouldn't it be harsh to take all titles from her? Surely only anything since it was banned.

^ agreed. Fundamentally unjust to make the punishment retrospective. you can't break a law that doesn't exist.

Capriati had her issues. Sharapova seems a victim of circumstances. Can she claim the Alistair Lynch defence.
Annoying opposition supporters since 1967.

Bugger. That was my first reaction, disappointed, Is she getting more or less sympathy because she is drop dead gorgeous, and so sweet and polite? "A victim of circumstance"? yes if her story is true. Bloody good work by her publicist.

She should of course keep all those titles, but let's not kid ourselves, she admits to being on it for 10 years. To need something like that for ten years, you have to wonder if she should be playing tennis! She should of course keep them, but there will be an imaginary asterisk next to each of them.

Ah those Russian athletes, as with the Chinese, always a step ahead in the doping world, win at all costs.

Apparently a memo was sent out, who didn't read their mail?

I wouldn't worry about Jennifer's outburst, she ruined her own comeback with her big mouth and ungracious stance! Her story could have been amazing, but she has no grace.

Be a shame if it's the end, always fascinating watching her play, she's so light and graceful.
