I wasn't suggesting that Fasolo is the same as Stringer, simply that neither of them are super tall full forwards like Cloke, Moore, Franklin, Roughead, Cameron or that big girl from Geelong. Fasolo has never been made the focal point for us at full forward, but i think he could prove to be a great success in that role. It's a moot point anyway I guess, as forwards seem to rotate through various positions throughout a game. FWIW, I tip Fas to kick 5 goals tomorrow night.

Suck my fat one Kevin.
I completely agreed with your previous comment about Collingwood getting away with one but I'm just wondering about Treloar - I thought he was consistently poor chasing etc when he didn't get the ball and wasn't especially damaging when he had it - compared with, say, Ramsay - who looked like he would set up a scoring opportunity every time he got the ball in an offensive position.

I appreciate that Treloar has had 30+ in his first two games - and that's great for a young player finding his way - but at the moment he looks like a solid accumulator a la the player formerly known as Dayne Beams, rather than a genuine match-winner.

I think what you are seeing is a player still working his way towards full fitness.

His stats at GWS showed he had a pretty good balance between attack and defence.
I'm shocked we're even having this discussion about him. He's playing with a bunch of teammates for the first time and getting over a groin injury and still played better than two thirds of the rest of the team. We should be asking why the tackling skills of the team are so poor and why certain players are gifted games, namely Blair and Macaffer, who are too slow.

I remember after we had a string of close losses to the top teams last year, Swannie was asked about the honorable losses. He replied that he preferred a dishonable win. i think he got his wish tonight.

Great win, gutsy win, never give up type of win that makes a club going forward.

Plenty of our fans left early, THOUSANDS IN FACT, but they will be annoyed tonight, so I almost feel sorry for them.

First time I've been in a Magpies fan scrum since the drawn GF, huge celebrations in our area, awaesome win.

1-1 after playing 2 top 5 sides from last year, I'll take that.

5 minutes to go, faz was at FF and the whole forward line was cleared up to the 50 arc.

6 goals straight and 4 goal assists, this boy is our key forward.

He was magnificent, wasn't he?
That's why we persisted with him for two injury riddled years.

Faz, you are the POP KOC tonight, you're a gun.

People all around me leaving with 5 minutes to go and 17 points down. So glad I stuck it out.

That's how you get atmosphere at a game. None of that pre fabricated shite, turn on a game of footy and the crowd will engage. That atmosphere in the last 5 minutes was utterly sensational.
yes Stui, that was my son and I amongst the early departures. Made it to the Tan when we heard an almighty roar. Checked AFL.com and saw we had hit the lead.

Pros
Glad to see a more diversified forward line with Cloke up the ground. Fasolo is so much better when all traffic is not directed to Cloke.
Reid back a blessing
Treloar busy again.
Nice to see Varcoe, Steele return in not too long and Elliott by mid season?
Throw in Howe and our team loses a few passengers.

Cons
Gault looked shellshocked. Can't play him at present.
Macaffer virtually undetected again.
Marley should not be kicking out.
Some ordinary disposers of the ball amongst our back 6.
Zone defence just got carved up.
One team, one dream - the Pies and this year's premiership

Absolutely agree.

Geez, could watch those last 20 seconds a thousand times over. The maturity of Darcy to set it up in front of goal...well done young man. You are going to be a star! Then the super quick reactions of Grundy.... pretty good for a ruckman!
