My first live game in two years, on a flying visit from the UK. Supposed to fly back tomorrow but I'm tempted to cancel the ticket and stay. I don't ever want to leave that feeling. Unbelievable, and one of the pies memories that'll last a lifetime. Thanks, boys. Treloar was great, but Fasolo finally came of age. My boy Sinclair is also becoming a serious player, and Ben Reid is the missing link in that back line, if he can stay on the Park. There is a future - we saw that tonight.

Lucky to be close at half time and much better in the 2nd half.

But those last 8 minutes could spark a stuttering start to the season.

Marley should be sacked immediately kicking the ball in and it should go to Ben Reid full time. Not sure I understand the theory of the long kick in down the middle, so risky for what appears to be little reward, might work once out of 10 attempts.

We might have been sloppy for the majority of the game but the guts and character to come from 3 goals down with 7 mins to go will carry us a long way. THIS is why Treloar picked us over the tigers.

A scrappy first half and some abysmal ball use gets cancelled out by a truly heroic last 15 minutes.

This is why we love Collingwood. The boys laid it all out on the line and delivered a win for the ages.

I couldn't be prouder. Go you good things. :D

the intention is to do it a couple of times to make sure the defense is required to cover the entire forward half.

Also, as a tactic without regard to the above, it is strong, especially if the contesting player can bring the ball to ground with the team running through the middle. If the oppo is not redy for it and you can get numbers to the ball, its hard to stop a pack of downhill runners.

I've been slagging the team off all week so fair play to them for slugging it out and coming home with a win. It wasn't easy, in fact it was as ugly as hell. The turnovers and decision making was appalling at times, and the skills left a lot to be desired too, but that's not to say that the paper tiges were any better. They had their chances and blew them.

Having Reid down back made such a huge difference. He's someone who knows where to position himself and choose the right option going forward. He's an integral part of our defensive 6. Was nice to see Cloke try and immerse himself in the contest more. He didn't have a great game but I saw that presented more and was getting his hands on the ball at least. Williams was dreadful tonight and made numerous clangers and costly turnovers.

Langdon is a dope. Sorry I know that's harsh but FFS wake up mate. It's like he's sleepwalking out there. A spell in the twos may be the kick up the backside he needs. Mcaffer worries me. We should look for a better option atm as he doesn't appear to have the fitness as this stage. 8 disposals isn't afl standard unless you're a first year player having only played a handful of games. Yes I know he's missed a lot of football but this is the big stage and we need contributors - not passengers.

Fasolo take a bow. Has the penny dropped... you bet. Well done son. Those 6 goals and the two late ones gave us the confidence to carry on and never give up. Moore is still learning and will get better with time.

Terloar running through the centre with the ball is a delight to watch. I also loved Oxley's game too. He's provides stability down back as well. Brown is another who shouldn't be allowed to kick. When he does, it's always in hope and without looking. Pendles was great but doesn't look 100% Is he carrying an injury?

What are our structures and why do we often fall apart easily at the seam. I notice we like to zone a lot which means playing off your man and not necessarily applying the hard pressure that required to force an error. When going forward, we do so with great difficulty. Why do we make it look so hard.

I'm sick of seeing our players leave our opponents or give them too much space. It's poor an accountable football. Reiwolt should never be allowed 15 metres of space to himself. This is an area we need to tidy up on. That and tackling. We used to be a fierce tackling side. What happened... Martin throws out the don't argue and down we go. F*** that. You grab the dirty prick and drop his arse into the turf, simple! The same with all of them. Make your tackles stick Pies.

We need to learn to hit targets and choose the right option instead of handballing ourselves into a frenzy and then BANG, throw it on the boot under pressure and hoping for the best. We need control and poise, composure and belief. There's a lot of work to do but I bet that win helped.

Sadly it just does not look likely to work. Tried it a few times and Grundy was always out numbered and we coughed up a couple if goals out of it. Doesn't seem a winning strategy. May look sexy if we pull it off, but can't see the success rate being very high.

There's been a lot of bagging out some players after that magnificent win, but the look on Corey Gault's face just after the team song says it all. For those that just want to criticise, just try and see the human element about all this for once. As far as Gault goes, I'd give him another week against the Saints, will be good for the big kid's development.

Macaffer is another that may well work his way back into form and deserves some respect.

Marley Williams - one or two bad kickouts and a few clangers, but instrumental in the final passages of play that led to our last goals, and Langdon has barely put a foot wrong in his career, and also kicked an important goal last night.

But Fasolo, this guy took the game by the throat, had a hand in so many goals, he was the real difference on the night - 3 brownlows. Dustin Martin: did everything right apart from those errant shots at goal - 2 brownlows. Bachar Houli, his best game and a masterful performance apart from being the only thing that could have stopped Grundy's matchwinner - 1 vote.

The big questions of the night for me:
Was Pendles really giving Martin curry about not passing the ball or was he asking where his Dad was?
Who is the "Hairy Runner" for the Pies? He has more hair on his eyebrows than I have on my entire head (and I still have plenty)
Did DTM come in his dacks when Grundy kicked the sealer?
and
Who is Jamie Elliott?
McRae for Governor-General!

What wonderful win. Not since the days Daicos & Craig Davis have i witnessed such a comeback. What a wonderful feeling being there & enjoying the moment with friends & fellow supporters in the ponny.

Despite not playing well for a fair portion of that game how exciting that last 5 minutes and have the play in front of the Ponsford stand? Wow, just wow.

Just the tonic the Dr ordered after last week. Love it.

Thank you John Wren too - I changed my tip to Pies as I was thinking we would lose!!

And don't get me started on his "finesse" kicking from defence. Purely deplorable and despite his fan base of sychophants, a permanent line should be placed through his name.
Think you're being way too impatient and harsh on Marley. He played only part of one NAB game before the start of the season and is just a bit rusty to my way of thinking. He'll get better with more match play.
iirc, last year marley had a slow start to the season. he'll be right soon enough. while he had a couple of shocking turnovers from kicking out, with the exception of the long kick to the middle it looks like we have tried to minimise turnovers by kicking short to the pocket. we need to iron out the rustiness in execution.

#keepthefaith.

i liked sinkers game and thought he showed quite a bit.

that first half looked like they were trying too hard and this resulted in the mess we saw. when it clicks, our game looks good on the mcg. it's suited to that ground given the space it offers. lots of silly errors that still need to be eradicated but when under pressure it showed no one was immune from making mistakes. even the usually flawless pendles cost us a goal.

the best part of this win...............

Every Tiger fan knows we shouldn't have won

Every commentator thought we shouldn't win

Non-Collingwood people will say we didn't deserve to win

But screw them all!
