OK, I'll ask. How the **** does the munchkin on piano relate to guitar?

I seem to have a mental blank spot when it comes to guitar, I just don't get it, my head doesn't work that way, neither it seems do my fingers. :?

I did a week on the road with my music teacher once and he had me playing guitar like a Piano, finger picking notes, but even though I could do it I didn't understand it. :(
