Smith has something and dare I say it a touch of mongrel.

He's a yapper. I like blokes that get into the oppositions ear. They're our enemy and they deserve no respect just contempt on field.

All our great sides had that aggressive, combative, arrogant streak. It's time we tore up the model citizen persona and bring back the attitude. No dirty stuff but when an opponent offers to shake hands pre game just tell him to fukk off or we'll kick his head off. That's what the great Lou Richards said to Freddy Flanagan before the mighty 1953 premiership win and that's the stuff that makes Collingwood great (and also hated but they hate us regardless so why not be the ultimate heel anyway).

Mason Cox kicked 4 goals and it should have been five. In what, his 4th game. He's now kicked 7.5, from 23 kicks and had 10 marks. This is seriously amazing stuff. And 37 hitouts.
Get back on top.

I tipped us and had faith in the boys, but too win like that was a fantastic effort, well done to Bucks and the boys, this ol Magpie is very proud of our club tonight.
How about this week? Like Robert the Bruce, I want to believe as you do!
Mate, if we can beat the Cats next Saturday, I will gladly stroll down the main street of Mt Evelyn on sunday, buff naked. :P 8)

Pretty damn impressive Cam. I wonder if he and Darcy are still best mates after tonight?

Reckon Grundy is screwed regularly by the maggots.

I like Oxley in the side. And Maynard is smart body positioning.

Yeah, I want to echo the love for the Ox. The boy is an excellent kick, can take a contested grab, and works hard. He's part of the solution. The backline is starting to take shape as Reid, Frost, Williams, Sinclair, Howe, Oxley and Smith. Let's just let that settle into place for a while and win some confidence and experience. With time, it'll give us the drive and power to capitalise on that looming forward line of Moore, Cox, Fas, Elliott and Sidebottom. Time, just give it time. Water it and watch it grow.

Positives:
1 We won
2 First half showed how we can play
3 Rehab returns for Varcoe and Sinclair
4 Cox, Smith and Crocker all playing well enough to keep spots (or at least maintain serious pressure for spots)
5 White good again
6 Howe looks settled in now (even if in defence for now)

Negatives:
1 It was only the Bears
2 We only played 2 quarters
3 Ruck free kicks.
4 Greenwood - need more from him
5 Goal shot accuracy

Never seen two coaches so flat in post match pressers.

We all know Jess is capable of that, but that intensity he showed tonight is a rarity, we need that aggression week in week out, not when he feels like doing it.

Yes, I was going to ask about him. Was he playing injured? He looked sore after the bump in the second half but even earlier he wasn't as aggressive as usual.

Also was it just me or did we drop zones for one-on-one play in the first half?

Good win. I know it was only Brisbane... but at the same time, because it was Brisbane I had no idea what to expect for the contest. Brisbane has made some good sides look very ordinary with their outside speed this year - which is something that normally gives us problems. However the zone / structure we maintained totally took that away from them. Great work coaches and players.

So good job!

5? Could've been 7 or 8.

There was a clear shift in the game plan tonight, we zoned the stoppages, that enabled us to off load by hand, greasy conditions helped defend the stoppages and IMO it was a step in the right direction, the top teams will still spank us in perfect conditions though, pray for rain is my advice.

Our defenders are still required to leave their man no matter the odds of influencing the contest, which is just dumb, back your defenders to make the call. Don't make it a rule, micro management at its best, rule 101 as a defender, don't leave your man unless you can influence the contest, our players are told to do it no matter what, what makes it even more bizarre is our defenders are made to do it even though they press up so far, it's insanity repeated over and over and over again, when is he gonna get it ain't working?

In a perfect world he'd be sacked today, he's a shit coach and action needs to be taken now whilst there's still a glimmer of hope for 2016.

I dare say Bucks', Hine and Davoren's presentation to the Board tomorrow night may be a little more palatable, if it is actually going ahead.
