I checked Mick Gayfer's birthdate, 1965, that means that this brother of his (playing u18s) must have been born in 1985..... You sure they're brothers?

What has age difference got to do with it?

Ian Brewer was the laegue leading goal kicker with 73 goals in 1958 and played in the winning GF that year and his kid brother Ross played in the 1979 and 1981 GFs. 21 year gap in between.

Age difference, no age difference, who cares? The bottom line is 1 Gayfer was enough and the Pies don't want to get sucked into too many family connections in the one team. 3 Shaws, 3 Clokes, if you've ever worked for a "family" company you'd know what I mean. Spells trouble if the club goes too far with ex player relations.

I must admit I'm too young to remember Gayfer playing... but if he got a game in the 1990 GF he can't have been that bad.

DfC,
Mick Gayfer was a gun. Was a mainstay in our defence from 1986 thru to 1993 when Adrian McAdam from North Melb kicked about 9 goals on him at Vic Park one arvo. I was there in the outer that day. It was ugly.

Gayfer played on me in a school football game last year, he ran through me when i had my head over the ball, caused a bit of a fight, which he lost.

Other than that he was a good player, not outstanding.

He went to Corowa High and i was playing for Xavier High schoool in Albury.

If we want someone from that area a 17 year old named Shaun Daly is an absolute gun, played for the bushies in the GF. Strong marking type player

Micky was a guy players wore, to get rid of him they had to shower after the game and then you had many players filed rape allegations against him for copping it up the rear all game :P

Same parents I wonder? If so then, say Mrs. Gayfer was 21 when Micky was born.... that would have made her 41 when junior Gayfer was born... does anybody know if there were any kids in between??
