Where to watch the game...
I'm going out to a friend's birthday on Saturday night in the city - but I want to go to a pub to watch the footy first (gotta get your priorities right!!!).
Does anyone know which pubs in the City will show the footy? (It's not often that I go out in town, I usually go out in the Flemington area).

Hmmmmmm, well I can name one place. The "All Star Cafe" located @ the Crown Casino, as we all know!!! Think about it, you can have a couple of drinky poos eg: Kahlua..lol...meet some collingwood supporters while your there and the best part of it all would be leaving with a win!!! Dont you tell me that that wont make your night Kristin?!!!!

I usually go to bars and restaurants in the city, so I don't know many places that would have the game. maybe the Charles Dickens tavern? they are on collins st, and they have foxtel. the Rose Hotel, in napier street fitzroy (10 mins from city), will also have the game.

the charles dickens usually has the premier league soccer on, but I've seen them put the footy on before. if it's not too packed, you can always request the owner to put it on.
haven't been there in ages though as I work at the "Beirut" end of Collins St, opposite Spencer Street Station. the property developers have tried to label it the "New York" end, but they're not fooling anyone.

Spencer Street to King Street = Beirut
King Street to Russell Street = New York
Russell Street to Spring Street = Paris
I call it New York because there's a lot of cool bars and restaurants around that section of Collins, Little Collins, and Flinders lane i.e. Ezards @ Adelphi, Hairy Canary, Laurent, Zukini, Robot, Manchester Lane, Segovia, Duomo, etc.. also lotsa funky stores like Saba (my fave), and DJs.

Now, now Elvira...calm down...it's just that I would like more options. I would prefer to stay away from Southbank/Southgate (whatever it's bloody called) because it is impossible to get cabs from there (and I will be drinking and not driving - responsible citizen, huh?!) and it'll be too cold to walk back to Flinders Lane (which is where I'm supposed to be meeting my friend for her birthday). That's why I might be forced to go out in North Melbourne and catch a cab into the city from there, unless somebody has a better idea....
