I'm not sure a lot of the younger generation even like football much these days.CarringbushCigar wrote:The younger generation don't like sausages and autographs and handshakes?schuey07 wrote:Social clubs are for old timers. Without the fan base buying the merch and the volounteers doing the grinding and dirty work any club would fold.
Sponsorship is great but its far from the lifeblood the the media and fappers would have you believe.
The volounteers are the lifeblood and if the club deserts the fans the volounteers will dry up.
I think i have more of an idea than you. Young kids today couldn't give a toss about social clubs at the football. People that do, are a dying breed.

Thank God we are not Richmond anyway, the tigers are tearing themselves apart at Board level as we speak, eddie may make a few mistakes, but compared to the hapless Punt rd wankers, hes a friggin genius. LOL

Being able to pop in after work, have a beer and watch the boys train on a Tuesday or Thursday is a relic from the past.
By the time most of us have finished work now, they're well finished training and are home.
Being able to go into the social club post game and have the players come in, have a beer and mingle is also a throw back to the 70's.
The past is the past. It's gone. Nice place to visit but not to live.

Yep, and just because someone likes theirs doesn't mean it's better than someone elses.droversdog65 wrote:Opinions are like arseholes - everyone has at least one.schuey07 wrote:droversdog65 wrote: Shuey you have no idea m8, it's something called 'connecting with the fan base'.

Also, don't forget the primary purpose of an arsehole is to provide an exit for sh1t.

IF Hiss reads that, he will go utterly apeshit, ballistic, hes been banging on about our lack of a social club for years, but I think you have a point. Mind you, do the piss and poop still have snag sizzles post training every Thursday, for the diehards, I bet they do.
