Internet in Australia is a Joke

Post by Dave The Man »

I am getting Really Disgusted on how Bad our Internet Service we are getting. IF you call it Internet service. Its Down/Crashed internet more then it Works.

3rd World Countries would have better bloody internet as it would Actually Bloody Work.

We should not pay for the Internet as we pretty much don't get any bloody internet.

Rang out ISP(Exceed Connect) and Telstra and they been pretty much Bloody Useless.

I've had cable internet since Foxtel was analogue.

I've had it go down twice in maybe 15 years.

1. was about 4-5yrs ago when the telstra box on the side of my house, one part decided to corrode.

2. There was an outage earlier this year, for no reason.

Other than maintenance I've never had an issue.

I've never had a problem with Telstra. Except my phone bill where I was overcharged.

It's running a little slower today at 27mbps, but I'd be suggesting the network is somewhat busy at the moment... it is almost 4pm on a Sunday... and I'm sure everybody is trying to watch CM Punks lousy UFC / MMA debut... so that would explain it.

Totally agree. Have had Big Pond cable for twenty years and it is pretty well faultless.
Only when really busy does it get a little slow, but other than that worth every penny.

Telstra cable here too. Works a treat, particularly since I upgraded the modem last year.

I've just been sent one of those fandngled new ones... I don't really want it, but apparently I have to.

As long as I can turn wireless off and set it as a bridge I'll be happy. Considering I have a top line Asus router as it is.

Try living out of town a bit 20kms from Ballarat. NBN is supposed to be finished here but my house cannot connect, mobile phone coverage is pathetic. We are not connected with Mickey Mouse operators either!

Get onto Whirlpool Dave, see who has a good rep and what's available in your area.

Whichever provider you choose, if you're on ADSL you're likely using Telstra copper and exchange, most of the re-sellers just whack their own DSLAMs in the exchange or buy internet wholesale from Telstra or Optus and re-sell it to you retail.

I did not Change/Choose our ISP. My Mum did over the Phone without even Telling me. So had no Chance to Research and Q&A about it.

They Offered Her/Us Unlimited Data Package and she just took it

I am on ADSL 2 I been Told

Well, if mum chose it I assume she's paying for it?

If you want her to go somewhere that costs more for better service, you may have to kick in for some of the cost.

Mum decided on our internet, we were with AAPT before going to Bigpond, I think the move to Bigpond was a good one as we have a better service with more bandwidth and also the TBox, and now Roku as well.

Parents were happy to get the new box because they can now watch internet TV on there as the new TV isn't quite able to. Only get the TV apps including YouTube there.
