The guy is a complete spud.
He's slower than Nathan Brown and more stupid. The only thing going for him is he can kick long.
My only take on this is that we would have preferred to keep Brown on reduced money, which we've used to buy in Wells and Mayne, but now without an experienced full back we are looking at getting in a 2nd rate one on low money. The only rationale could be to bring in someone purely as a back up player, who could come in to the side if Keefe or Reid break down.
But if he is being recruited to be our full back then this really is a severe step backwards....and he's 29.

He's actually decent and was turned from a so-so forward into a reliable defender under Roos. Fell fown the pecking order in 2016 due to McDonald's form. Is prone to the occasional brain fart, but is more creative than N.Brown and yes, he can kick a long way. Not the worst idea...but half our team is now traded in from other teams, and it takes time to gel. God knows when we'll find our best established 22-25 who know each other's nuances, not to mention game plan.

I agree, big mature body and some depth. If that's all that's around then go for it.Raw Hammer wrote:He's actually decent and was turned from a so-so forward into a reliable defender under Roos. ^^I doubt he would cost too much. Could always front end a lot of the contract.
We must have heaps of cap space even with Wells & Mayne in. Say they replaced Cloke, Swan and Frost (very conservative), we still have the room made by Brown, Witts, Toovs, Macca, Goodyear, Marsh and I think next season we have the extra 150K we were paying of Heaters wage at GWS.
