Getting back to Dick Lee, I found this on youtube; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ZXSB_xcCpk
If you skip ahead to 16:00, there is a brief few seconds of footage of Lee, unfortunately its during a quarter time break and not playing, but the narrator says it all; "The Gary Ablett of 1910".

Bump.
Just thought I'd ask again.
It's time to right some wrongs as far as the AFL HoF goes. Collingwood have been overlooked for so many of these things.
Dick Lee must be elevated.
In the future; Syd Coventry must be considered. Lou Richards must be considered.

I think the ball was dropped by the AFL for not elevating Lou Richards when they had the chance.Presti35 wrote:Does anyone know if an HoF member will be elevated to Legend status in 2017?

I just you tubed Dick Lee. Got some Asian singer. He's probably a better chance.
I received my book in the mail yesterday. Personally signed by Daics. Had a flick already and it's sensational. A great update from 'A century of the best'. I'll get it out now and reacquaint myself with the great Dick Lee.

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2017-06-20/h ... est-legendTHE AUSTRALIAN Football Hall of Fame will welcome a new Legend on Tuesday night.
The 5 other contenders, according to this article include;Dick Lee
One of Australian football's first great forwards, Lee played 230 games for Collingwood between 1906-22, kicking 707 goals in an era when much lower tallies were kicked. He won the League goalkicking 10 times, with his tally of 66 goals in 1915 the highest in the first 25 years of League football. A premiership player in 1910, 1917 and 1919, Lee was known for his courage and lifting the standard of VFL forwards.
*Gary Ablett snr
*Malcolm Blight
*Wayne Carey
*Jason Dunstall
*Kevin Sheedy
The poll suggests Ablett and Sheedy are the fan favourites to get the nod.
All those guys deserve and will be elevated some day. But the AFL needs to give Lee the honour first, as he really could have been included as one of the original Legends.

Has Bobby Rose been made a legend? If not, then the whole thing is a phucking joke.
By the way, Alby Pannam, who many say was the best player of his generation, told me when I was a kid that my Pop, born in 1906 in Collingwood and captain of the Cambridge st School football team, was a better player than him. My Pop didn't take up football with Collingwood because he was too embarrassed that he couldn't afford football boots - despite being a boot makers apprentice in Collingwood.
