Bucks for life!!!! Bah! What a waste of money...
Why did we spend so much money trying to secure Buckley for another big contract? Why oh why?! How could we be so stupid...
Did he play a big match the other night? No
Is he worth the money? No
Are there up and coming stars who are much better than bucks? Yes
Guys like Presta, Mal, Patto, Mckee, A.Rocca and big Sav have much more potential than Bucks but yet they get treated like second class citizens...
Bucks went out there and got 40 possessions a game last year... BIG DEAL. Now that we've got so much top-shelf talent in the side I can assure you he wont. Someone needs to pull him of his little pedastool and my main man Micky is the coach to do it....

I can't believe I'm responding to what appears to be a blatant troll, however...
I'll take you seriously monkey for the purpose of the exercise.
Any player in any team who consistently achieves 25 - 40 effective possessions is top shelf.
Take into account that Nathan Buckley did that virtually unsupported last season in a team that lost 18 of its 22 appearances and finished at the bottom of the ladder and you can elevate the top shelf ranking to star status.
Add to that a performance that impressed the umpires to the extent that had he played 22 games last season he would have won the Brownlow. Think about that - a Brownlow winner from a team that finished last.
Think about the skill and the dedication required to perform at that level in a team that's consistently losing.
Finally, think about Collingwood without Nathan Buckley.
The man is a freak - and he's freak that we must hang onto at any cost.

Look, I've been a Collingwood supporter for over 10 years and I've seen us through some good times, but mostly bad ones....
When we're in form we have a range of young talent who fire simultaniousely. I used to like Bucks, he used to be my favorite player infact.... But I looked closely and saw that he doesn't suit our gameplan at all. He is not a team player, he's a one-dimensional and doesn't look out for his teammates. Why hasn't he won the Brownlow? He's not a team player...
Guys like Presta, Patto, Jacotine and Mal are all team players. I wouldn't be surprised if Buck's role is changed greatly this year to suit the team game that Malty wants to bring in...
No one can get that many possessions in a well-rounded team; THIS HAS GOT TO STOP! And Mick will stop it. WE ARE A TEAM, NOT A ONE MAN'S (i.e arrogant prick) ROMP!!
Trust me boys, it's going to be a good year with Mick at the helm.....

I agree that Buckley is a standout, that, at the moment, he's a one man band and that his apparent ball monopoly could give the impression of selfishness.
How else could he appear? He's been in a team that, with a few exceptions, has consisted of players with skill and little experience or players of experience and dubious skill.
Is he a grandstander? Does he keep, or call for the ball with the intention of doing something 'special' in order to cover himself with glory? No, his possessions are almost invariably delivered to the benefit of the team. His massive possession rate comes from his uncanny knack of reading ahead of the play and being where the ball is going to be, and then delivering to best advantage, but never at the expense of his team mates. How can someone who creates opposition turnovers ever be a handicap?
To answer my question, he can be a handicap when his team mates are so far below his skill level that they always defer. There is probably an element of that, but as I said before, think of a Collingwood without Nathan Buckley. Do you really want to remove Collingwood's most skillful player in the interests of building a skill-level team? Are you prepared to wait for another 10 years? Are you prepared to discard the players who shine along the way in order to sustain that level.
You may have the patience to do that, but you'll be waiting for a very long time.
As for me, I'm sick of the wait and if it can't happen yesterday or today, I'd like to see it happen tomorrow.

Monkey you are on some serious drugs, if you are serious. The other players at Collingwood aren't in the same league as Bucks. The man could have won two brownlow medals and that in a crappy side. Even Carlton supporrters respect him more than you seemingly do. Get a grip on reality...otherwise a great topic starter *grin*...heh what about Robert Harveys wife at the Brownlows.......hubba hubba!!!

Monkey,
Just read both of your posts and for some reason the word DICKHEAD comes to mind!!!
There are so many wonderful adjectives that I could throw at you right now but the one thing that I would really like to throw at you is a brick. A brick that has DICKHEAD plastered all over it so when it smashes into your forehead it won't be lonely!!!

Long Live Collingwood!!!

Well first off I would like to apoligize to Nick and the other TRUE Collingwood supporters who use this site for my last post, but as for you Monkey man it will be a cold day in hell before you ever read an apology from me.
And now for the reply to about your third post on this issue(If you could call it that).
***What sort of stupid name is Fletch anyway?***
Well I use the name Fletch on such things as Posting on various discussion boards, IRC, ICQ etc anyway I took the name from the guitarist of Pennywise, which just happens to be my favourite band, now I know you(Monkey is that because you smell like one?)have most likely never heard of them since you probably enjoy listening to Brittany Spears or whatever the new flavour of the month is, so don't pass judgement on me you little teeny bopper.
***You get off your little high horse and wake up to reality dip***.***
(lol) This just confirms my suspicion about your age 11-12 bracket with a maturity level of an 8 year old and a football brain even lower.
***Collingwood have almost overthrown all the old management that lead
us to only minimal finals appearances in the 90's but not all of them***.
My god earth shattering news Einstein, did you ever think about phoning the Herald Sun.
***Buckley is not our only champion, we have heaps of them brewing
around Wasley, Patto, Mal, Presta, top new recruit McKee, the Roccas...***
(rotfl) You sure can spot a champion!
Patterson is a goal hungry nobody with not a trace of ability in his whole body and as for Prestigiacomo he is disgrace to the 35 guernsey, I have not made my mind up on Mckee because unlike you I don't sell out on a player after one game although he does seem a bit small to hold down the No #1 ruck position. Unfortunately we agree on the Roccas however Sav has been disappointing and has failed to live up to expectations and maybe the same could be said about Anthony to a lesser extent. as for the rest Mal is developing into a good player if that back can remain strong and healthy and Wasley is far too young and unproven to judge(although I think Foxy will disagree).
***In any other team these guys would be cherished; but not at good
old Collingwood where we apparantely like one-man-bands.***
This is a totally stupid statement, especially when considering at collingwood I believe places more pressure and expectation
on players than any other.
***People know he's not a team player***
Do they really?...For example everyone on this board tends to agree with me which is :
BUCKLEY IS A CHAMPION AND TREMENDOUS ALL ROUND PLAYER!
***and that's why he doesn't win the brownlow, it's simple.***
(lol) FYI the Brownlow is awarded to outstanding INDIVIDUALS...A premiership is the reward a team receives.
Furthermore the reason Captain Courageous didn't win the Brownlow this year was because he missed 5 games due to a broken jaw. And also why do you think the Brownlow means so much? Afterall it is just an Umpires award and those White maggots know about as much as you when it comes to football.
Besides everyone knows the Copeland Trophy is the most prestigious award in football.
***Mick will not let him rule the roost this year like he did in the
past, he'll be made to play as a team player and not the arrogant
prick that he's played like in the past five....***
Incredible that you can see the great man like this, and besides how do you know how what malthouse thinks?
Grow a dick Fletch....
Well i've tried to keep this post free of cursing and various names which would be fitting to this guy/girl(thats for medical science to determine) so I don't think I can respond to this one without the use of more insults.
/Fletch

You are completely right - our biggest weakness revolves solely around Bucks. The problem is that for the last few years no one has been pushing up to knock him off his mantle. His complete dominance belies our dreadful recruiting and subsequent abysmal depth. We will have arrived as a competitive force once the Copeland trophy is decided on the night and not 12 months in advance as it has been and dare I say it will be the case again this year.
But to bag Buckley is the most moronic bile I have witnessed in some time. All I can say is you must be very affected by the NY's eve debacle and aren't thinking straight - that is understandable. However, if you are serious then you must have spent those 10 years watching the Pies with your head up your arse for all the intelligence your comments show.

Haha...PITY THE FOOL!!!!!
Champions in the brewing...the Roccas, can I remind how long Sav has actually been playing at Collingwood, since 1992, and he is a Champion in the brewing? Sav could be a champion, he isnt a champion in the brewing. No one is a champion in the brewing, a champion is self made through hard work and determination. (Just to name a few characteristics needed to be a TRUE champion).
