Go well Drew Morphett. Top bloke; best sport broadcaster of our generation. No-one else ever managed your unique blend of easy-going style, true-to-life accuracy, tremendous knowledge, understanding, and infectious good humour.

You will be sadly missed.
Beautifully said Tannin.

Even though he was taken too soon, what a way to go - watching footy with a red nearby.

He obviously positively impacted so many people and what more can a man/woman ask of this life.

Yes,this is a terrible shock. He was a great caller and a great person from what you hear.I remember him from watching The Winners all those years ago.It was the only exposure we had of football on tv in Qld,because there was very little else on tv about football at that time up there. He will be sadly missed.Rest in Peace,Drew Morphett.

Farewell, Drew. Loved your work.

One of a kind in a world of run-of-the-mill sports callers.

He called it all - Olympics, Comm. Games, Golf, Footy (VFL, AFL, The Winners), Melbourne Cup, Cricket - you name it.

Kerry O'Keeffe: "His legacy ?...that he saw sports broadcasting as a privilege not an earner"
Donny.

It's a game. Enjoy it. :D

Snuffs it after retiring a year ago. That is just cruel.

Always enjoyed him calling any sport, not just footy.

RIP Phillip Beams aka teapot (Father of Dayne)

Post by qldmagpie67 »

It's with regret I inform those nicksters interested that Dayne's father PHIL or as we all called him teapot passed today after a long battle with bowel cancer.
It's well known here that I've known the family since they moved from Yarrawonga in the 90's
Teapot was a loveable larrikin and a great loyal mate.
He loved his sport and was a very accomplished AFL player tough as teak but also a very good cricketer often making hundreds and taking a few polls as well.
His greatest love though was his daughter Kayla and sons Dayne and Claye.
They were his life.
Teapot mate you'll be missed by all that knew you
Keep a cold beer on ice for me ole mate until I join you
RIP
