More things that are illegal but absolutely defensible:

Many people may shrug their shoulders at this, but a great many foreign-language films I'm watching nowadays have only been watchable because of "unofficial" English subtitles. I'll be dead from old age before a DVD company bothers to pay anyone to translate any of these obscure films, but I'm able to watch them now because some criminal (!) decided to put hours into translating and timecoding the dialogue without receiving a cent in return.
Is there possibly something wrong with this picture?
