The shameful thing about all of this is that even though Hooksie did the right thing and walked away, somebody decided to keep it going. According to an eyewitness interviewed on Ch 7 tonight, the bouncer followed him and hit him with a right hook. A would be hero dealing with a genuine hero the only way he knew how, with a cowardly king-hit.
A sad loss to his family and to Australia.
Do not adjust your mind. The fault is in reality.

What a tradgety that such a true blue Aussie has been taken from us so young and in such devastating circumstances. R.I.P David

I know it probably isn't the appropriate time to be thinking of retribution but I heard that the animal who assualted David was already awaiting trial for a similar earlier offence, If this is true whoever allowed him to work and whoever was stupid enough to employ him should be severly punished. If he was on a prior assualt charge the judge who allowed him to continue working also should be punished.

What a tragic waste of life The unfortunate thing is it is not isolated incident - it happens more than we ever hear about in the media. I work in Intensive Care and the waste of young life not only through death but permanent disability is horrific. My sincere sympathy to his family and friends in this tragic time

The decision to turn off life support is gut wrentching - we need to offer something to the family at this time - praise for his achievements , anecdotes of things that we remember that made him the person he was not retribution The time for that will come but not now when their pain is so great

As hard as it is I for one am glad he has gone to God for he would not have been the person he was - now he can rest in peace.

A very sad sad day for everyone. Hooksy was a hero of mine and the reason why i barracked for Sth Australia in the cricket even though im a Victorian. He was also the reason that i have started going for Victoria since he has taken over as coach.

Sports Today on 3AW was so sad tonight as it feels like you have lost one of your own.

Commiserations to all the family and people at 3AW.

RIP to a wonderful person David Hookes
