As hard as it is I for one am glad he has gone to God for he would not have been the person he was - now he can rest in peace.
i am involved in rescuing people from car crashes, and sometimes i think it would be better for them to have died then turn into a vegetable, as it is often likely.
as soon as i heard hooksy was in the alfred i thought it must be bad. i feel sorry for his family for having to make the decision to turn off the life support.

RIP hooksy.

The tragic death of David Hookes makes this more than just a cricket story.

In that light, and given that many people will want to pay tribute, we have moved the thread to general discussion for the time being.

It's a game. Enjoy it. :D

I never saw him play, only all the clips that Channel 9 has played, but I've heard alot about him. And how good he was, and how he holds the record for quickest 100 in Test Cricket. It's a tragedy that something like this happened to a guy like him, no one deserved what happened, the guy that did this deserves to spend a long time behind bars.

RIP.

Hookesy, have a kick with Dazza for us.
Go Vics, do it for David.

Can't wait to see the Beaconsfield go a row of shithouses over this.

I thought security cameras were compulsory at niteclubs in that area?

I have been really sad today- he was such an enigmatic personality. Used to listen to him on 3AW Sports and now he has been taken away tragically. RIP Hooksy, you will be missed. :(

Sad news, vale.

I'd say it would be manslaughter, no premed.

As a South Aussie, I feared the worst when the ABC talked to Greg Chappell this morning and he said things were looking very grim. Was there when SA raised the Sheffield Shield, with Hookes as captain, in the early 1980's.Will always be hitting another 6 over the Vic Richardson gates at Adelaide Oval - RIP David Hookes.

My condolences to all the family, and friends, of David Hookes.

It has been mentioned the accused is from St. Albans.

I wonder if his passport has been handed over to the authorities!

If not, what's the bet he has already left the country.
