bucks4ever wrote:What a tragic waste of life The unfortunate thing is it is not isolated incident - it happens more than we ever hear about in the media. I work in Intensive Care and the waste of young life not only through death but permanent disability is horrific. My sincere sympathy to his family and friends in this tragic time
As hard as it is I for one am glad he has gone to God for he would not have been the person he was - now he can rest in peace.
i am involved in rescuing people from car crashes, and sometimes i think it would be better for them to have died then turn into a vegetable, as it is often likely.
as soon as i heard hooksy was in the alfred i thought it must be bad. i feel sorry for his family for having to make the decision to turn off the life support.
I never saw him play, only all the clips that Channel 9 has played, but I've heard alot about him. And how good he was, and how he holds the record for quickest 100 in Test Cricket. It's a tragedy that something like this happened to a guy like him, no one deserved what happened, the guy that did this deserves to spend a long time behind bars.
i would like 2 pass on my condolences 2 the hookes family even thou there may b no chance of them reading this. David u were a champion on the cricket field the way u played all those great shots. The bushrangers will win the pura cup 4 ya mate u taught them well.
There is a 4 day match this friday 2 monday at the mcg victoria vs south australia and the entry is free i would recommend every 1 that is intrested in the pura cup 2 make ur way down 2 the mcg in respect 4 david hookes and also show support 4 the bushrangers as well.
the 4 day match has been postponed 4 david hookes till feb sumtime

I have been really sad today- he was such an enigmatic personality. Used to listen to him on 3AW Sports and now he has been taken away tragically. RIP Hooksy, you will be missed.
Apparantly things are not looking to good at the moment but we hope for all concerned he pulls through.
A really nice guy and not a bad cricketer and told it as he saw it, get better mate.
As a South Aussie, I feared the worst when the ABC talked to Greg Chappell this morning and he said things were looking very grim. Was there when SA raised the Sheffield Shield, with Hookes as captain, in the early 1980's.Will always be hitting another 6 over the Vic Richardson gates at Adelaide Oval - RIP David Hookes.
