Well, I've contacted the AFL twice for no response. And I've also contacted the hall of fame museum at the MCG who are unsure.

So I'm thinking there might not be an elevation this year.

But something else I've learnt is that University does not have any representation in the hall.

Sure, their record wasn't something the yap about, but they are a part of the history none the less.

Sorry to turn this off Collingwood for a second, but I've come up with a short list of University players that, someday, could be considered to go into the hall;

-Herbert Hurrey
A Queenslander who holds the games record for University. He is also the only University player to play over 100 games. He also captained the club. The only real chance considering he's played at least 100 games.

-Roy Park
Universitys leading goalkicker. Unfortunatly he only played 44 games for University before moving to Melbourne. He entered WW1 before returning to play in the VFA for Footscray and interestingly played a test for the Australian cricket team. His low amount of games played will cost him, but it sounds like an interesting story.

-Tom Fogarty
95 games in the VFL and Universitys inaugural captain. Also captained South Melbourne in 1903. Another unlikely candidate with under 100 games. Went into the military and into law after football and seems to have died in mysterious circumstances.

-Edgar Kneen
94 VFL games shared across Fitzroy and University. Played in a premiership with Fitzroy and also captained University in 1910. Played for Victoria in 1905.

-George Elliott
Holds the record for most games captained at University. Played 79 games for them after playing 1 with Fitzroy. Sadly he was killed in World War I.

It's hard to know how good these players were, especially with Universities low amount of wins. But I feel like they should have at least one player recognised in the hall. As we know many of their players and administration were killed in WW1.

So I got a reply from the AFL saying they've forwarded the question on to the right person. That was weeks ago.

Today I saw an add saying its next week and a legend will be elevated this year.

So a decision has been made. The add showed footage of Greg Williams, Gary Ablett Snr and Wayne Carey.... "Who will it be?"

I hope they've made the right decision and gone with Dick Lee.

Why don't they just install Brodie Grundy, now - to avoid controversy later?

It's been leaked that it's Kevin Sheedy.

Other names like Dunstall, Ablett, Carey, Williams been thrown around.

Have not heard Lee's name mentioned anywhere.

Got my fingers crossed for Lee, but it sounds like we'll have to wait at least another year.

Michael Tuck won 7 premierships and played 426 games. I would suggest he has better claims to become a legend....just sayin

And somehow Roy Cazaly is a legend ahead of Lee and the incomparable Bob Rose.....
Explain it to me like I'm a four year old. Ted Whitten is an AFL legend, and Bob Rose isn't?
