Well, I was SO cheesed off with the umpiring last night that I sat down with the tape of the game today to actually check what the result would have been WITHOUT the umpires errors. After doing a full analysis of every free kick, this is what I came up with:
Collingwood 15 - 7 - 97
Essendon 10 - 20 - 80
I'm sure that we'll all admit the umpires aren't perfect BUT we were robbed of not only a great win against the bombers but a position back in the eight and it REALLY STINKS!
It's about time the umpires became accountable!
GO PIES!
Marg (who cursed the umpires for all of the 2 1/2 hour bus trip home after the game!!!).

I don't usually comment on umpiring decisions as there is no point, it doesn't change anything.
But having said that, I couldn't ignore some of their inexplicable decisions on Saturday night. It was even mentioned on the footy show on Sunday that with so many games and so few umpires that they must have been scraping the bottom of the barrel for our game.
They disallowed goals we should have been paid and gave Essendon some easy goals.
It changed the momentum of the game on several occassions to our detriment.
It's a pity Molloy didn't accidently knock out Jimmy instead of Tarks. Who would have received all the free kicks then?

I usually don't complain too much about umpiring because I think some days it goes our way and other days it doesn't and usually (hopefully!) it evens out over a season BUT Saturday's night game was definitely the exception!
This is what I took into account when altering the scores which showed we would have won:
1. Minus 1 goal Ess (for stupid 50m penalty against Josh)
2. Minus 1 goal Ess (when out on full or Bucks free not given)
3. Change Ess goal to point (when Alessio not put on boundary line)
4. Change Ess goal to point (Freeborn was NOT holding ball!)
5. Change Ess goal to point (for unfair free against O'Bree - they were both holding each other!)
6. Plus 1 goal Coll (for Nick Davis goal given as a point)
7. Take 50m penalty from Rocca although he still would have kicked goal so no change to score
8. Plus 1 goal Coll (for Buckley goal that umpire disallowed)
I know it's in the past and we can't change the result and it's important for the team to look ahead to next week BUT the umpiring still stinks!
