Can anybody throw any light on an incident that occurred prior to tonight's match, during Essendon's early warm-up?
Essendon players were warming up at the Punt Road end ... in front of the Collingwood Cheer Squad. Several cheer squad members were indulging in the usual heckling that you would expect. Then an Essendon player, Hardwicke, appeared to get involved in a sledging match with the Cheer Squad.
I definitely saw Hardwicke grab a Collingwood Cheer Squad member by the shirt. And I'm quite prepared to testify in court if necessary. The stupid thing is that the Collingwood supporter was evicted. He may have even been arrested, I'm not sure.
We hear a lot about unruly supporters man-handling players etc etc. But what about players manhandling spectators? Is that OK, is it?
I reckon Hardwicke should have been the one evicted. He clearly spat the dummy because he couldn't take a bit of a ribbing from the opposition fans. Wow. What a model of professionalism he is.
I also reckon it's about time the AFL did something to stop this needlessly provocative practice of having teams warm up in front of the opposition cheer squad. It is unnecessary. And it is just asking for trouble. Why couldn't the pooncing wankers do their warm-up at THEIR end ... in front of their own friggin' cheer squad. Why invade our space. Their ball-boys were complete tossers too. Arrogant. Self-important. Why don't they get a real job instead of being hangers-on for a football team. Pathetic.

I saw it alf. hardwick is one of the reasons why there's a law against the marriage of cousins. he grabbed a cheer squad member by his jumper before essendon trainers and other players separated them - to me, that's assault. security and police then came and escorted the guy out. later, he did some trash talking to nick davis after nick kicked that great goal in the last quarter by pointing to the scoreboard. he is a complete toss. I think the bombers have gotten too used to the confines of a closed roof, and the rain was affecting what little intelligence he has.
I don't want to generalise but gee, essendon are a wank team, with some dickhead supporters. in the last quarter, in the members section, some bloody essendon pricks in a corporate box decided to start doing some over-celebrating, and getting into the c'wood members. talk about incitment! well, a bunch of c'wood members went and tried to get into the corporate box, but was stopped by security. they then stood in front of the box and blocked the view to the game, and got into singing the theme song. this drew lots of cheer from the members! eventually, more security came and moved them. it was quite amusing though.
and how come there were so many bumber fans near the cheersquad? I also saw that moron with the moustache who was trying to be a cheer leader. he also started waving his friggin' jacket when he realised the game was won. he had no ideas. then, when I was leaving the ground, I get essenscum supporters trying to start me. I just ignored them, but wot tossers!!
essenscum are a bunch of scum sucking and goat rooting pack of tumbling, tumbling dickweeds, and I hope they stuff up in the finals.

Hey Junkboy I was one of the members sitting in front of the corporate box. Some fatcat began yelling out to me and a couple of others to sit down when we got up yelling about a couple of decisions. He was quietly invited outside his corporate box to discuss the issue. When they all absolutely shit themselves in their box when about 20 supporters decided to try to extract him through the window someone with some inginuity announced that we should stand in front of them. We all did about 10 of us blocking all thier view of the game. This was met by great laughter and applause from other members. Well doen the members from N3 and N4. See Alf, we just don't sit there, we get just as involved up there in the 2nd row as well.
One of the funniest things I have seen for some time. The security fellas came along and told us all to sit down which we eventually did but the point was proved. They didn't dare open the window after that nor did they move from thier seats after the game. The door was also locked from the inside at the end, lucky really.

yeah Seth, it was certainly a funny sight to see all you magpie fans swarming around the corporates

I know that members have been derided for bagging players etc but we are not all like that. when push comes to shove and some bozo decides to diss the club or its supporters, we'd let them know about it.
as for Turdwick, I think the club should conduct an investigation. I recall an incident where a c'wood fan was banned from attending games for giving david king a love tap on the head. here we have a player who has possibly assaulted a magpie fan. a "please explain" letter should be drafted to essendon.

I was sitting right near all the action of the Magpie diehards and the idiots in the corporate box too!
It was actually a great sight seeing the Magpies members banding together, standing right in front of the box and even singing the Collingwood song!
And since when aren't you allowed to stand up at the football? Security have no idea!!!

I saw the whole Hardwick incident and the corporates incident. They were both absolute pissers! Harwick was shitting himself when a few members of the cheersquad turned on him and neva came back down to get the ball. What a retard!
And when all the guys stood up in fornt of the window, I have neva laughed so much in my life! I was sitting in N1 pissing myself! Bloody brilliant! Keep up the good work my fellow members and supporters!

By the way, just for interest and revenge sakes, as I was leaving the G with Dad driving home up that bridge on punt road that takes u over the yarra, who should pull up next to me but Mr. Harwick himself. So what do I do... I get my Collingwood scarf and stick it up on the window and make rude gestures with my finger and faces at him and his parents who were in the back seat. Then Dad cut him off up Punt Hill just to pee him off. Then he turned off Punt Road and peed off home!

I got down to cheer squad area just as this was happening from eyewitness reports hardwicke grabbed a cheer squad member by the jumper the cheer squad member tried to free himself and was evicted i instructed him to lay assault charges we were laughed at by police and security

I saw the Hardwick incident as well (I sit on level 2A in the GS Stand, around about the 50 metre line). I also saw an Essendon player, I think Ramanauskas (full Essendon tracksuit) jump up and at least attempt to hit a Collingwood Cheersquad member. I couldn't believe it - my sister and I watched it all in amazement. I hope you intend to lodge formal complaints with the AFL and Essendon FC, as that is not the way professional footballers should behave.
