^E: No to your question and to your suggestion. Crocker is in to allow De Goey more midfield time. I expect that Sier will play inside, swapping with Adams, and that - if it works - Pendlebury, Sidebottom, De Goey, Thomas will all play a more outside game.

Last week, for example, Sidebottom's game was an inside one, compared with his typical game (lots of contested possessions and a reasonable number of clearances), with a view to him putting the ball to Treloar, so AT could run with it, while he had legs. Without Treloar's outside speed, we have to get the ball into the hands of the best users. If Sier can replicate any of what he's done at VFL level when he is in the Seniors, he will give them much more first use of the ball, in close. He' not slow, by any means, but he doesn't (yet) get the ball in the clear, much. The alternative is to use Phillips on the end of the chain more, as we did in the first half against Carlton when Treloar was struggling to get into the game - but I just don't think he uses the ball well enough from the midfield to play that role usefully (he is better when he gets the ball near goal than when he's trying to pick out a player).

I anticipate our tangle with Tiggers and Dusty sticks that arm out

They better have a large needle and thread cos Brayden Bear will rip it off

I have wondered whether there are any AFL players that have trained in BJJ. If Martin tries to fend of someone with that background his season will end immediately.

By half time he has been instrumental in at least 2 goals. More than holding his own.

19 disposals (10K, 9H), 3 marks, 6 tackles.

Good debut.

Good first game, the thing that struck me was that he looked composed out there, unflustered, and generally made good decisions.

Welcome to the big time Bear.

Very good first game - cool - great awareness - reads the play well - maybe we have a footy 'Mes-Sier' in our midst!

He reminded me of a big version of Pendles, his awareness of those around him and at times it was like he was in slow motion. I can see why the Club stuck with him. A lot to like.
