The first of those articles is the most telling, albeit not the funniest - it shows one of the "anti-terrorism, not anti-Muslim" chaps abusing a bus driver because she happens to be a, well - ahem - errrfr - Muslim.

You've just proved that Robinson supporters are racist and I've just proved that muslims are child rapists. Yay, we're both so clever and virtuous.

p.s. you're a smart guy so you knew what I was doing.thesoretoothsayer wrote:Maybe I should have put it all in quotes to stress the sarcasm.Pies4shaw wrote:"Muslims are child rapists"? Really? That must warrant a card, I would have thought.
As such, taking the phrase out of context and then soliciting the mods to give me a strike is pretty weak.

It was obvious you were drawing a valid analogy in thinking, STS, and it was a low-quality attempt to shut you up, agreed.thesoretoothsayer wrote:p.s. you're a smart guy so you knew what I was doing.thesoretoothsayer wrote:Maybe I should have put it all in quotes to stress the sarcasm.Pies4shaw wrote:"Muslims are child rapists"? Two more flags before I die!
I have no idea why you thought it might be OK in any civilized society to write what you wrote. What you did, however, was so wrong-headed (in a brain-dysfunction sense, not in any "political" sense) that it actually defies belief.thesoretoothsayer wrote:p.s. you're a smart guy so you knew what I was doing.thesoretoothsayer wrote:Maybe I should have put it all in quotes to stress the sarcasm.Pies4shaw wrote:"Muslims are child rapists"? As for the "pretty weak" reference, if I'd wanted to "solicit the mods", I would just have reported your post. Instead, I told you what I thought of it. If you can't handle the criticism, don't write pointless, racist twaddle and it won't happen. What you wrote wasn't smart, funny or witty - it was just repulsive. I took offence because what you wrote was offensive - and, as I read it, deliberately intended to be so.

Perhaps sarcasm is too abstruse for you. No worries, I'll be literal then.
I don't believe that posting two links to offensive behaviour by Robinson supporters demonstrates that the position of "anti-terrorism, not anti-Muslim" is some kind of pretense. Similarly, someone posting links to articles about grooming gangs in no way demonstrates that muslims practice or condone child abuse. Defining a group, race or religion by the actions of their worst members is simplistic and dishonest. Unfortunately, it's something that many of us (including me) do all too often.
As for your confected outrage. Yawn.
