- If Collingwood lose, they will remain in 6th at the end of the round and, pending the result of the match between Williamstown and Port Melbourne (Williamstown win), effectively be eliminated from the race for 4th place with a round to go.
Note:
- This will be the first time Collingwood and Frankston have met since the Dolphins were re-admitted into the competition. As such, it will be 768 days since the two clubs played in a game for premiership points.
- Following on from that, due to the vagaries of fixturing and Frankston's aforementioned recess from the VFL, this will be the first time that Frankston have made the trip to Victoria Park since Round 3 of 2013. On that day, it was the Dolphins who triumphed, leading a depleted and disappointing Collingwood at every change to run out winners by 13 points.
