Scott Morrison is apparently going to run against Dutton for the leadership. Former immigration ministry apparatchiks at six paces!

Interesting. Apparently Turnbull is to step down and not contest the leadership.

They'd want some stalling time to work the phones with everyone to see what that does with the numbers before going to a vote. Durron's had 2 days.

Another twist.

Dutton appears to have Greg Hunt lined up to be the new deputy, which puts the acid on Julie Bishop. She has repeatedly said she would not challenge malcom for the leadership, same as she didn't challenge Abbott. If she decides to contest this against Sco Mo and Dutton, that would make it really interesting.

Would the libs take yet another page out of the Lavbor play book, when all turns to shit, put a woman in charge?

Parliament has been adjourned until 10 September.

Does that mean that this is all on hold til then?

Nope, they did it so they've got a chance to get this sorted today. I don't think ScoMo has a deputy lined up yet. Dutton is going with Hunt. Hopefully that means the end of Bishop.

Sounds like it will be Morrison v Dutton, with Turnbull not re-contesting.

I hope they elect the undertaker. He's very popular (amongst a few nervous nellies in Queensland) . Anything south of the Tweed River & their pretty f*cked as far as I can tell at this moment in time :D

His trust fund just for starters
His medicare co-payment

The Libs aren't that stupid to give Labour a free kick then again....

Bishop's gone

Hunt is his rhyming slang - another little man syndrome.

Oh the religious conservative right f*cking the Libs. It would be great if ScoMo gets up: how would this go down with News Limited. This is atime I wish I had Fox TV to watch the crazy nutters of the rightwing. Scomo of Hillsong being seen as a moderate - oh the irony. The Libs have moved that far to the right they will make themselves irrelevant. I knew the Mad Misogynist Monk was good for something: division, revenge and hate. I have manlove for him.

Yes indeedy. Freakin' F*cken Madness. Great stuff though. I means Labour F*cked up not too long ago with this infighting you'd think they'd learn. Oh wait a minute the Mad Mendacious Monk has been organzing all this :D

Turnbull speaking now. Says that he wants to wait for the question of Dutton's eligibility to be confirmed, that he'll call for a spill tomorrow midday (I think), that he won't stand if the spill motion is carried and that he'll quit parliament if so.

I'm actually pretty impressed by Turnbull's tactics here. He's really put Dutton in a difficult position. Clearly an avid chess player!

He's played it well in the circumstances.

He wants the petition and advice from the solicitor general on Dutton's eligibility, if he gets both those things then it's go.

What happens if the Sol Gen says Dutton needs to be referred to the high court?
