lol it happens Wokko. Trump can screw the Dems over in one go. All he has to do is release his Tax returns and in saying that, Trump and the Republicans will fight tooth and nail not to release his returns before the next election.

Oh she's a moron alright, an absolute nutcase!

I like this bit...

How bad is the Green New Deal paper? Putting aside the fact that, as written, it would receive a C+ in any high school English class, it essentially articulates a magical world in which the skies rain chocolate, the world is powered by unicorn farts, and AOC dances through the gumdrop meadows to Lisztomania.

The proposal calls for the United States to be free of carbon emissions within 10 years without the use of nuclear power. It calls for every building in the United States to be replaced or retrofitted in green fashion. It calls for universal healthcare, free college education, the replacement of airplanes with high-speed trains, charging stations "everywhere" (this is the sort of exactness the proposal contains), replacement of "every combustion-engine vehicle," government-provided jobs, family and medical leave, vacations, retirement security, and the abolition of "farting cows." It also calls for total "economic security" for anyone "unable or unwilling to work."

Where did she park those Unicorns again
Here, to the best of my knowledge is the actual paper.

That assessment above may be a tad over the top and histrionic, but only a tad. This is not ambitious, it's ambit, unrealistic and unachieveable.

The US Education and Health sectors are constructed in a way that the only way to provide universal health care and free education would be to either nationalise the institutions (and ruin them in the process) or legislate to severely restrict their capacity to charge for their services, which would also ruin them in the process as both run high cost models. That assumes that the Federal government even has the power to do any of that, as the constitution is designed to ensure the states retain much of the power to themselves.

Putting massive taxes on the wealthy is a nice thought, but not many of the wealthiest people in western society actually have massive annual salaries, their wealth is usually locked up in shares and companies, both which already (supposedly) pay tax. So any 70% tax on earnings over $1M pa will hit CEO's and high level wage earners and not touch the wealthiest at all.

With the US people's deep seated fear of socialism and big government controlling their lives, this proposal has less chance of being legislated than it does of succeeding.

If she called it a vision, you could almost take her seriously but as an actual hard proposal you'd have to question both her intellect and sanity.

Actually, another alternative just occurred to me. She's neither dumb or insane but cunning as a shithouse rat and copying Trump's playbook.

She's not eligible to even run for POTUS until 2024 (I think) so she has time to experiment and work out what the populace will cop.

Come out now with this idealistic unrealistic ambit fairy land proposal now, and test the reaction it gets across the different demographics. Ignore the tiny minority who love all of it and the large group who hate all of it and focus on the group who sort of like bits but have concerns. Work on distilling those concerns into themes and figuring out how to address them. In a couple of years, release a tweaked version and test how that fly's against the different demographics compared to the original. The same way Trump campaigned with a manifesto that hit home with the demographics he needed to win, this could be her version. If she's smart.

Time will tell/

God help us if the political discussion stays mired in vivid imaginings of 'socialism', for or against. It's as if people have decided that a single cartoonish metaphor should dictate their understanding of the planet forever more.

Just what 'videos' have you seen that can possibly portray this woman as intelligent? Seriously, what does she say that makes even the slightest bit of sense?

Yes, yes she does and she adds "The world is going to end in 12 years, if we don't fix it"

Oh please, it's too early to be laughing this hard, I'm going for a ride.... on the path, without a helmet
