ronrat wrote:Its certainly hit the news. Flicking through it live reports on Russian tv, Asia (singapore based ) news, British, French, German and even Fox. Al Jazeera has picked it up. Although I suspect Fox will have some piece about people not being armed so they can respond.
Watching the coverage on the news, they showed a clip from a US news show with someone saying how NZ has very strict gun laws, which is utter BS. They're only strict in comparison to US laws. Their gun laws are very closely comparable to ours pre Port Arthur.
There has apparently been some appetite for change as cops are sick of getting guns pointed at them all the time but the past few attempts have been defeated. I expect some changes to gun laws in NZ in the very near future.
Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down.
Skids, this really isnt the place for that IMO, cant we just empathise with these innocent people who died while praying to their God, and their scared, distraught families waiting for news. until we stop the tit for tat, it will never end. Bad guys did an awful thing for no good reason, and they picked just about the softest target they could get, just gutless, and I damn well hope the NZ justice system whacks the perps hard.
You cant fix stupid, turns out you cant quarantine it either!
White racists will do well in a Kiwi nick where a disproportionate number of inmates are Maoris and Pacific Islanders. When the Aussie bloke wants to come back to serve the last of his sentence in Australia as is practice he will no doubt end up in a prison full of aboriginals, pacific islanders and Western Sydney muslim bikies.
Jacinta Arden may want to revisit her take on sending criminals back to their own country after this.
That's the guy's manifesto. Make of it what you will, I haven't read much.
wow. I read a fair chunk, the guy snapped. He wasn't radicalised, he just snapped. There may or may not have been much holding it all together in the first place, but once it broke it was done.

I actually clicked on Anning’s Twitter page out of morbid curiosity. I never thought I’d miss Malcolm Roberts, but **** me, that loony tune was a breath of freah air compared to this goose-stepping wannabe.

If a sitting Prime Minister can be removed by a Governor General then why on earth isn't there a mechanism in place to remove a politician who doesn't pass the character test and in the case of Anning he wasn't even elected and has the position by default only.
