Seems a worshiper, with a gun, saved many more lives...

A second shooting happened at a mosque in the Linwood area of the city.

One Friday prayer goer returned fire with a rifle or shotgun.

Witnesses said they heard multiple gunshots around 1.45pm.

A well known Muslim local chased the shooters and fired two shots at them as they sped off.

He was heard telling police officers he was firing in "self defence".

"They were in a silver Subaru," he told police.

What we need is border control. We need to stop white men coming here from New Zealand, right now.

We have leaders around the globe attacking Refugees/immigrants who happen to be Muslims on a daily basis and using them to score cheap political points. These so called leaders deem them as potential murderers, rapists, drug dealers etc etc and we wonder why we have nutters turn into murdering Terrorists?

I usually come on here to put manure on the right wingers, then leave. After this I have lost the taste for insults.

We have 2 chances to "stick it up them" coming up. Whatever your political affiliations, get out and vote. If you feel strongly enough, hand out how to vote cards. Don't forget to buy a sausage sandwich, and good luck for the season for the Magpies and whoever wins the NSW and Federal elections.

Personally I doubt they have been scrutinizing the dark corners of the internet that the alt right like to congregate in at anywhere near the level of Muslim radicals.

I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure we've had Australian Muslims charged already in this country purely on the basis of personal views that while abhorrent to many and potentially dangerous have stopped short of actively grooming another for a terrorist act and haven't been conducted whilst in preparation for one themselves (of course those examples have occurred also).

Basically they have been targeted for expressing anti-west views or extremist sympathies and yet unlike the alt right who like to hide behind the notion of freedom of speech for there brand of hate haven't been afforded the same latitude to talk shite and spew vitriol with like minded individuals on social media.

Keep in mind a couple of things.

1. He's been living in NZ now for a few years so would have been off our radar as it seems he fully flipped out after a visit to France a couple of years ago.

2. Up until very recently it seems he kept a low profile, only ramping up once he was organised and ready to go.

The far left are annoying but relatively harmless and kick as many own goals as they do score points because of the way they go about things.

The far right are actually dangerous.

Well, as numerous threads on the Vic Park Tavern shows, you'll never stop brain dead morons blowing their dog whistles, or being quite explicit about their abhorrent views on a whole range of alt-right conspiracy BS....banging on about them ad nauseum in fact, and then having the mind blowing temerity to say they only do it "cause the extreme left do it to!!!" like a bunch of three years olds carrying on in the pre-school.

Which is why strict gun control is so important, so that effed up morons who are actually influenced by this tripe don't have access to high powered weapons to carry out their effed up violent fantasies in real life

Still waiting for the 'extreme left' to commit a gun massacre BTW; happy to read into any citations the brains trust wants to come up with?

A fascist is a fascist, whatever their religion...although I note that mental illness is never cited as a root cause of the Nigerian atrocities the way it has been cited as a reason for the NZ massacre on this thread? Interesting...

There is no need for the average bloke to own a semi automatic firearm, let alone fill auto. I work with guns of all types and as far as farmer Joe goes, any single shot rifle or shotgun can do the job that they require one for. NZ Gun Laws will fall in line with ours. Thank fck this isn't the USA with the Gun Lobby as we would hear is "thought and prayers".

They have tried 3 times in recent years to tighten the laws, but there is a gun lobby there and each attempt failed.

Arden has stated that the gun laws will change, which is opportunism of the best kind. You don't want something like this to happen, but now it has, like Port Arthur did with us, she'll face little resistance.
