Double Posts
I thought i'd put this here, the mods can choose what to do with it.
Ever since the upgrade to Nicks, I've had frequent issues with double posts. I go to post something, get an error message, hit the back button and submit again and bingo, double post.
Through trial and error, what seems to work is to ignore the error message, hit back on your browser (I'm using a PC, don't ask me how to do this on an iPhone) and then just click on the forum you were in up top left near the Nicks headline.
If you're concerned that you've just typed a long post, copy it first before doing the above so you can paste it rather than retyping.
If it's only me having the issue, apologies, if not consider this my community service for this week

I get this sometimes on my phone you get an error or page doesn’t render that your message has been posted but your post is still saved. The double post is from hitting back and then quick reply or submit again thinking the first one didn’t post.
Human behavioural studies suggest people who use a lot of swear words tend to be more honest & trustworthy.
Yes, I agree hitting the back button or re-submitting will probably produce multiple posts.
When I've posted and an error message has come up, the post has always gone through and appeared anyway. You can open up another browser window and go to the thread and check it's there. Then just kill the first window with the error message.

Thanks WPW, I thought of posting it here first but saw the warning to alert the mods first, so I figured I could kill 2 birds with one stone, alert the mods and do some community service by putting it in GD.WhyPhilWhy? wrote:The mods have asked Mike to review.
For reference, I get this white screen that says something like "Nicks cannot handle this request" it's a full page error message, the only option is to go back.

We spoke with Technical Support (Mike) and as we will all be aware, there has always had an issue with lag or slow server response causing multiple posts
While not ruling out the NBN's culpability in the above, the coincidence of the recent server upgrade can't be ignored.
Our Nick's 2.0 upgrade is still on the cards, so that may assist with the issue as well.
